FuLL mOOn ~ June ~ Strawberry mOOn

  the Stars are aligned again like a UFO landing pad!

FuLL mOOn
June
StrawBeRRy
Louisiana
Saturday

its Synchronicity!
its Sci~fi`tastic!

June's Full mOOn is called Strawberry mOOn.
This name was Universal to every Algonquin tribe.
 The relatively short season for harvesting strawberries,
takes place during June.

In Europe, it was called the Rose mOOn.

This is a good time to take stock of the year, at this mid~way point.
A good time to review what you've accomplished and also what is still left to do
{that would be ME!}

Things to do:

*grab the kids,
  some strawberry moon pies
  and go do some star gazing

*grab The Loved one, share some
  fresh strawberries with
  chocolate cool whip
  under the mOon

*take a pink rose petal bath while
  listening to
  Strawberry Alarm Clock.

What ever You decide to do, enjoy Your Saturday and Your Night.

There's Something on the Wing

 This is by far {out, man}
one of the best executions of a continued plot line I've ever seen.

Starting with the classic,

William Shatner in an original Twilight Zone episode {1963}
{ "oh...god...there's something on the wing!" }

to

John Lithgow in The Twilight Zone Movie {1983}
 {tsk!tsk!tsk! waves the Gremlins finger}

with the blending of both in a comedic scene from 3rd Rock
that still cracks My Self and The Man up.
{The SAME thing haPPened to Me!}

Classic!
Even more so, considering it spanned over Three Decades!
Yes, Priscilla,  there is some Creative Genius left.

Two SiSters Mary Thoughts for the Day ~ June

 "A noise like of a hidden brook
In the leafy month of June,
That to the sleeping Woods all night
Singeth a quiet tune."
~Samuel Taylor Coleridge

The iron tongue of Midnight hath
told Twelve;
Lovers, to bed;
'tis almost Fairy Time.
A Midsummer Night's Dream

"There are moments,
above all on June evenings,
when the lakes that hold our Moons
are sucked into the Earth,
and nothing is left but Wine and the touch of a Hand."
~Charles Morgan

"If a June night could talk, it would probably boast
that it invented Romance."
~Bern Williams

It is the month of June,
The month of leaves and roses,
When pleasant sights salute the eyes,
and pleasant scents the noses."

Astro PoPs and PoP Rocks

Two of the CooLest Candies from My Childhood.
The absolute best was the Marathon Bar
{can we have a moment of silence, in honor of THE Marathon Bar}

Astro PoPs and Rock Candy.

Astro PoPs were just CooL looking
and they lasted longer than Willy Wonkas never ending gobstopper.

Not to eat while riding your skateboard either!
Save the powdered Jell~O for that.

Nothing like stabbing your Little Brother with one when he was annoying too!
In the 80s the company reversed the PoP on the stick precisely for this reason.
Oh well.  The Astro PoP crash landed and was discontinued.

But~ there is rumor that it will be blasting off again in Fall 2010.
{pu pu pu POW! fireworks}

I'm actually looking for molds to make my own.
After searching for a looong  bit of time, I found them.
Out of stock!
The search goes on.

That brings us to PoP Rocks!
Don't even try to protest
that you didn't drink The Cola and eat The PoP Rocks
to see if The Stomach would explode!
and all it got You was a really bad tummy...blech.

Amazingly, pEEps still! believe that.

Now The Little Space Zims enjoy these as much as I did.

Space Age Fashion

 This is what I would totally wear to a Trekkie Convention!
in a Heart beat.
The 60s "Space Age Fashion" is some of the most Fabulicious clothing
to have ever been made.
If I had to pick one reason why I LoVed them so much??
CoLoR.

no, maybe its the Design...clean and simple.

no, wait, ...{shrugs} Who needs a Reason?

It really is a shame that I didn't learn sewing when I was younger.
 I could sew some in black and wear different colored tights.

Space Age Fashion ~ Barbarella style!

I visionize these in a butter yellow and cream combination for the jumper;
a dark gold and cream for the pants.
{although, now that I look at it, it's probably already that color}}

Only thing left to do now is figure out...
Captain Kirk or Major West???

UFO ashtrays

ok, i have a thing for ashtrays...srsly, I do.
My most favorite one I had,
was one I got from a Turkish airport years ago.
It eventually broke to  bits.

One, they remind me of my dad.
He was a SERIOUS! smoker, almost 2pack a day habit
of NON filter Pall Mall.
Started smoking when he was 12, surprisingly, didn't kill him.

Second, they have a social gathering memory to them.
Being a Former {but occasional partaking} smoker,
it invokes memories of group gatherings,
with spirits, food, and merry making,
....weird, but true.

Third, I like them better than t shirts and shot glasses.
Especially the big ones.
Plus you can use them for other things, like incense, and jewelry.

Does that mean I want dirty stinky ashtrays laying around?
Noooo.

I totally want one of these.
I don't even want to use it; its just so CooL looking.

Firefly and Serenity

Now that the Hottness is upon us,  its a perfect excuse to lounge
and check out some Hottness of another kind.

The theme is again Firefly,
here we are with another of my favorite Fireflies....
only one of THE BEST series to ever grace fox's channel,
{that they were so dumb to let go!}

A mini~ summer~ vegetable.on.the.couch.not.in.the.garden~ viewing marathon Holiday.
Since Fireflies come out at night lets make this a late afternOOn / Night time thingy.

Make some Melted Brie and Bread,
a pot of Earl Grey,
Turkish Sour CheRRies,
Candles,
Incense.....
Invite some Friends,
{bOOyaH!}
Righteous.

Firefly and Serenity are just enough sci~fi for me.
A buffed up kick arse version of Briscoe County Jr.
Sit back, press play, and Enjoy.

Planets, mOOns, and Star cOOkies

With another rainy day upon us, we did a cook day.
It turned out quite LoVeLy.
While shake, rattle and rolling my brain grooves,
trying to figure out how to turn basic Chocolate chip cookies
into a Sci Fi thing,
I came across some shaped cookie sheets
I have had for YEARS [bought them from ABC}
and have never used.
Guess what?
They were star shaped!
My brain is liking this grOOve.
So why not?

We used the recipe on the back of the chocolate chip bag,
Taking turns with the ingredients,
and
Taking advantage of teaching
The Boy WonderWombFruit, measurements.

The first attempt with the Star cookie sheet was pretty decent.
I figured the cOOkie dough would pretty much melt into the mold.
Well, it sorta did.
Only on the bottom or molded part, where it browned more than I wanted it to. Approx. 9 ~ 10 minutes.
But Still TAsTy!

The second attempt I tried to smOOsh the dough in, gently,
using a small, greased, spatula. It was a bit time consuming, but I'm chalking that up to it being the first time, and also only having two pans to cOOk with.
I cut the time on this one and better results. This batch was more approx. 8 minutes minus a few seconds.
Much better. The only problem with these it that the little~bits that over~hung the edge of the mold, burnt.
Honestly, that could be the pan
{cheapo pan}

THe majority were pretty perfect.
Once again, Still TAsTy!
Ok, so we have Stars.
Not up to filling and smOOshing the rest of the cOOkie dough into the star pans, I just finished off the last bit regularly.

Hmmmm, round, like a .....mOOn!
I mentioned this to The Fruits,
and The Boy Wonder said "they could be planets too!"
Well, of course!
Everyone was pleased.
Even more so when we poured the Ice Cold Milk!
