ReCoLLeCTioNs GLiTTeR

I am in LoVe with these GLiTTeRs!
These GLiTTeRs are Irish Crack,
so much FuN are They.
It's the TeXTuRes that are really Rockin.

and a briLLiant assortment of CoLoRs.
The Tinsel GLiTTeR is my second faVe.
It's got Priscilla written alll over it
{Priscilla says: Got Body Glue?}

These next two are regular extra fine GLiTTeR,
but I bought them for the CoLoR.
The Raspberry is a bit darker 
than in the picture,
and I have some special PaPer 
waiting just for this one.



The Frost 
is one I've been having a LOT of Fun with.
The GLiTTeR lightens up 
quite a bit once it's been glued.
It's a Yulemas pale shiMMer, 
that you can darken by adding
more layers.
 

THIS is the one that gets my 

punk rock, rock and roll Art Heart goin.

The Microbeads!

 

These are a bit tricky.
I haven't quite found the best
way to use them.
When you pour the beads on, 
it lumps and can get very uneven.
I did get better results 
by using the sprinkle side,
but when I added 
the second/third coat,
it glumped up. 
No worries, 
it's one product I don't mind
having to keep trying out over and over!

These are a more than welcome

addition to my Supply Cabinet.

So far, I've gotten really nice results,

just as nice as Martha F'n Stewart's

{cause Martha is da bOmb!}.

and those square jars are so grOoVy. 

The jars are large, with double openings,

one for pouring,

one for sprinkles.

Replacing GLiTTeR back in jars 

is so much easier also.

I can't wait to add more selections

to my collection.

Especially the textured GLiTTeRs.

Yulemas stocking stuffers

 an American Tradition since 1967!!

Stockings are to Me the best part of Yulemas.

Since as far back into Childhood as I can remember, 

The Stocking held such grand treats.

Pecan Rolls are the first Candy I remember getting.  

Along with a tiny doll that was very popular.

I still remember my 13th Christmas Stocking....
it held my first MakeUp and Beauty Treats.

Now I try to make our Stockings just as Magical.

No matter what Trinkets I may put in them,
like Movies, Gift Cards, Calendars, Make Up Bags...

the Candy Treats pretty much stay the same.

Ice Cubes are awesome.
Along with the Chocolate Icicles.
When I can find them.
Alas, it isn't very often.

Since the Chocolate Orange
{WHAM! Unwrap and Eat}
first came out {of. the. BOX!}
our Stockings have been blessed with one every year.

This is a fairly recent addition in the past decade. 

I just LoVe seeing Santa poking out of the top of the Stocking.

I discovered Botan Rice Candy with the Edible PaPer
from one of The Brother's Friends,
20 years ago.
It was a tradition for Her MoM to put them in Her stocking.

and who can resist Toblerone?

well, I can't anyway.

These are the NiNjas of Yulemas Candy.

They have a way of disappearing if you blink...

 This is definitely the most unique thing I put in the Stockings.

Odd, yet quite, Odd.

But Wonderful.

 Here's to the Magic of Stockings and the Things they are Stuffed with...

Family Yulemas Tree Day

 oh the joy!

It was even better this year.

The Oldest Son wanted to go to the Christmas Farm this year to cut down our own trees.

I've always wanted to do that.

It couldn't have been more perfect.

The weather was gorgeous,

The air was chilly

The trees were magnificent....

 We all agree on this one!

 BaBa aka: The Chook Man, does his Chuck Norris and  cuts our tree down...

 The Womb Weebles go Sqweeeee!

It didn't take long for everyone to find their trees and gather them.

Obviously many others had the same idea.

The only thing missing was Sneaux.

It was quickly and gleefully decided that We would be here next year.

Ghosty Movies for Ze Family

Our whole family LOVEs vintage movies.
We are big fans of Don Knots, Abbot and Costello,Danny Kaye...
you get the picture.
Two movies in particular are absolutely great favorites:

The Ghost and Mr. Chicken
The Time of Their Lives




These vintage movies are just cracker jack.

The Blu man gets kicks out of any kind of slapstick comedy,

The Lolly Babe gets the whole experience,

I like the clothes,

The Chook Man likes the main actors..

It's a Family Affair!

The Bonus of course, is that The Kiddos will grow up with

a really cool sense of history and a wide

variety of tastes and knowledge.

Hopefully with an Appreciation and Uniqueness which will bring enjoyment to them.

Cherry Clafoutis

Cherry Clafoutis is the Cherry BomB!

A few years ago, 
I made a Cherry Clafoutis to bring to a dinner party.
The recipe just sounded Divine to me,
Custard and Cherries baked together...
um, yummm.

Since our condo had a full kitchen, 
I knew this would be the perfect time to bake it again.

After looking at many recipes, 
I stumbled upon someone using Julia Child's recipe.  

Unbeknownst to Me, 
it has become very popular since the movie came out. 
Oh well, I like Julia Child 

The recipe sounded really good 
with no diet or low anything in it.
It helped that the Cherries I were really great too!

The recipe says 
to bake a thin layer  of custard
then add the Cherries, 
and rest of the batter. 
I didn't. 
And it came out Fantabulous!





I also DID NOT PIT the CHERRIES.
The Pits are supposed to add a subtle Almond flavor,
so I left them in.
and No One broke a tooth!
Forewarned is Forearmed...

About the Baking Dish!
I used a 9 x 13 baking dish.
If you like thicker custards, use a smaller dish.
Or you may double the batch, so adjust your dish accordingly.

 









Cherry Clafoutis the Julia Child's Way
**************************
1 1/4 cups Milk
1/3 cup Sugar
3 Eggs
1 Tbls Vanilla
1/8 Tsp Salt
1/2 cup Flour
3 cups Cherries {I DID NOT PIT MINE}
1/3 cup Sugar

BuTTer 

 Preheat oven to *350
 Butter well! a 9 x 13 baking dish.
Place Cherries in the baking dish 
and sprinkle 1/3 cup Sugar over them.

In a blender, 
blend the Milk, other Sugar, Eggs, Vanilla, Salt, and Flour.
Pour over the Cherries, slowly, so you don't go knocking them about.

Bake for about 45 minutes
{depending on your oven}
until the Clafouti is puffed and golden brown;
and a knife, wooden stick, comes out clean when tested.
I tend to like my custards like this, more on the "dry" side.


It really is best warm.
Ours was rOOm temperature and was just a good.
You may want to serve it sprinkled with powdered sugar.


There were no leftovers.

Cherry Vanilla Ice Cream, Wings, and Lightening Bugs

Time wise, this is the first day of  SuMMer.

Weather wise, it started two wEEks ago

Spiritually Nature wise,  its in a few wEEks.

Three things are powerful snap backs to SuMMer for Me, 

plain and simple {as were my SuMMers}

CheRRy VaniLLa Ice Cream

the band Wings

and

Lightening Bugs

Two of those are even more powerful for they are powered by LoVe, 

and memories of  The Coolest Grandma.

She loved CheRRy VaniLLa Ice Cream, 

 I clearly remember sitting under Her carport, on the steps eating it.

I remember the Light bouncing through the Leaves

and Lisa Bell was there.

I wasn't to fond of the ice cream, but I sure loved the CheRRies.

the band Wings is pretty much the band that is my childhood. 

Every song reminds Me of some moment in time. 

Sure there are LOTs of others but not whole albums like wings. 

{Saturday Night Fever and Grease were late 70s 

more late elementary for me, Kuwait and Turkey}

then, there are ...the Lightening Bugs.

Fireflies. 

It saddens me that I no longer see them. 

That I cannot go into my backyard and capture a mason jar full, 

be mesmerized, and then let them go.

WE don't have any.

I've also noticed how I no longer see stinging caterpillars, 

and the dragonflies have changed colors.

I believe its because they spray for mosquitoes and it also kills other insects.

  The Coolest Grandma's favorite memory was 

from a night I spent the night with her as a child. 

We lay in bed talking, and this Lightening Bug walked across the ceiling. 

I remember Her pointing it out, and we just laid there, 

talking and watching the Firefly. 

She always talked about that.

I've started a painting a dedication to that,

and one day, when I'm finished, I will post the pictures.

So yes, this is the first day of SuMMer, time wise.

Great things to look forward to:

perhaps making CheRRy VaniLLa Ice Cream from scratch;

Finish the Painting;

andofcourse!
