Brown Sugar cOokies

When making the Oatmeal coOkies
The BabyGirl asked
if they had Brown Sugar cookies,
and we found out,
yes, yes they do.

So we made them.
It's another simple recipe, and quite tasty in a subtle way.
It definitely tastes like a sugar cookie, with a hint of snickerdoodle.
Dark Brown sugar is used in this recipe
and I thought it would have had a heavier taste,
maybe similar, in a loose way, to molasses.
It's perfect with coffee, I know that.

Since we've started making our own cookies,
the Womb Fruits hardly touch the store bought stuff.

This is the recipe we used.
We rolled out balls of dough
and then gently flattened them,
instead of spoOnfull drops.

Next time, I'm also going to double the Spices and see how that tastes.

GLiTTeR Acorns

Easy craft and lots of fun.
And they look GREAT on the Tree.

Acorns
Glue
GLiTTeR
PiPe Cleaners
Green Wire
Dremel/Drill

Gathering the Acorns is a great Family Do~gether!
The bigger your acorns the better.

Once you've collected your Acorns,
separate the cap from the acorn and
make sure they are clean and dry.

First decorate the Caps; they will need time to dry.
I used Elemers Glue and Silver GLiTTeR.
Spread liberally, not drowningly, the Glue on the cap.
GLiTTeRiZe!

You can also GLiTTeR the Acorn and leave the Cap natural
{I can't find my pics of those!}

Using a small drill bit {I used my Dremel} drill hole in Cap to insert hanger.

For the hanger, Sparkalicious PiPe Cleaners really rock,
as does the Green Wire.
Using any needle nose, flat nose, etc. pliers
to crinkle the Wire adds a really great accent.

Secure hanger with some Glue.
Place enough Glue to adhere to the Acorn and reattach the Cap.

Using a bowl of rice, or sand/dirt, beans
is great for setting the acorns up while they set up and dry.

Once the GLiTTeRed Acorns are completely dry,
hang on Tree,
or any other surface
and Enjoy.

Happy Birthday to the WombWeeble Blu and Dr Seuss too!

"Today, You are You, that is truer than true.
There is no one alive who is Youer than You."
~ Dr. Seuss

My wombweeble is 10 today!
What a wonderfully wacky decade it has been.
And to celebrate we made cupcakes,
with blue frosting
in honor of Thing 1 and Thing 2!

as we say Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss!

Easy Easy.

Make cake according to package directions.
Whip the whipped frosting some more with Blue Food Coloring
{drip away to your Heart's content until shade of blue achieved}

Grab Cupcake,
Dip into said tinted Frosting,
Swirl and Twist,
{Priscilla says:" it's all in the wrist!"}

Just the fact that they were homemade,
made PeoPLe excited.

I'm thinking,
blue tinted Marshmallow FLuFF next year.

When asked how the day was:
"Today was a BLAST!" ~ The Blu Man

and it is.

Simple Meals ~ ChEEsE ToasT

My number 1,
all time, no matter the problem is,
comfort food is
ChEEsE ToasT.

Simple.

Hangover.....ChEEsE ToasT
Morning sickness.......ChEEsE ToasT
PMS......ChEEsE ToasT
I f'n hate you, get out of my life....ChEEsE ToasT

You get the picture.

and the ingredients couldn't be any simpler.

When I'm sick comfort,
it's usually regular bread and some cheddar block slices.

then there's the Mother ChEEsE ToasT.
Fresh french bread cut in thick ass slices
Butter
Two kinds of cheese
 and a broiler.

Slice the bread to your desired thickness...
I slice mine thick.
Slater butter on one side, toast lightly.
Turn over and layer the cheese,
Put in broiler~
Melty goodness.
 Add hot tea,
A good book
and you have a damn fine meal.

Toast an extra piece of plain bread for "dessert"
by adding fresh honeycomb honey drizzled across it.

and if you really want to jack it up,
like for an impromptu get together of Kelly fans, um, friends..

throw on some thin slices of Red Onion, and TomaTo.
You pick what kind.
Of course, we call this Turkish ChEEsE ToasT
cauuuuse growing up,
anything that was fancy or not "normal" was called Turkish.

Apple Cake

I LoVe Apple Cake.
It's an Autumn treat I look forward to every year.
I used the same recipe from last year
with GaLa apples.
The Gala apples really held up well
and absorbed the Spices wonderfully.
I'm also a BIG fan of The Bundt Pan
so the Apple Cake is always cooked in a bundt.

Friday is a great day for Apple Cake because
Friday is ruled by Venus,
and apples are the perfect offering for Her.

I actually only used 4 of these {small/medium}apples
and still had about 1/2 cup extra, which I used.

The Delightful Daughter has great fun
sifting the flour with
my Grandmother's old crank sifter.

Cream Sugar, Butter, add Eggs...

Fold in 1/3 Flour mixture,
add half the buttermilk and fold,
1/3 Flour mixture,
second half of buttermilk,
last of the Flour mixture,
Apples, & Walnuts.

Bake at *350 for approx. 45 minutes.
Check with wooden chopstick
(or skewer or toothpick}
to see if the inside is done.
You may have to do 10 minute cook~ments.
Watch for burnage.

Until a deep dark golden brown

I let my cake cool completely before removing.

Slice and serve.
I like mine with coffee,
The Delightful Daughter likes her's with whipped cream,
The Big and Little DuDes like their's as is,
walking around,
