Fresh Lemon Bath Salts

I LoVe Lemon,
{as if you didn't know that by now!}
Everything about it:
The CoLoR
The Scent
The TasTe

I also am verra fond of Bath products.
Making and Using them.

This go round,
I went the Fresh route.

Things Needed:
*************
*1 Big Lemon, fresh but not cheeky
*Sea Salt
*Really Nice Jar {with firm closing lid/top}
*************

Using my Mandolin Slicer
[at the widest setting]
I cut 1 Lemon into these beautiful, lovely slices...

Place a layer of Sea Salt at the bottom or your Jar.
About 1/2 to 1 inch.
Place a layer of Lemon Slices on top of that.
When placing your layers of Salt on top of the Lemons
make sure the Salt is firmly packed to cover the wedges.

Continue til you reach the top.

Seeing as it is Fresh ingredients,
I would use as soon as possible.

When you add the Salt to your bath,
throw in a couple of the Slices as well;
discard after use.

Wait til you get a scent`full~
Your Happy will tingle.

Construction PaPer Chain

I really wanted to
keep it simple this year.
If I can avoid
dragging all the stuff
from the attic out,
hey, Gold Stars for me!

Here's a good old fashioned, from my childhood
and beyond, craft that was
* Easy
  * Cheap
* Fun

This is the first time my Wombers have done this craft.
And they had so much fun.

Supplies:
----------
*Construction PaPer
*X~acto Knife or Razor
*Ruler {I used Metal so the blade wouldn't
           catch on the Wood}
*Glue {We used a Glue Gun}

I used an old cookie sheet
for cutting the strips.
Line the paper
up in a corner,
set your Ruler,
Slice.

I cut varied widths
to make it
more interesting.

They had a blast,
and we've gotten lots of
compliments on the Garland.

sigh. I miss Kindergarten!

Pre Holiday Room Remodel

Small remodel jobs can be great
right before the holidays.
Especially if you do it Thanksgiving
to get ready for Yulemas.
This is the Holiday Deep Cleaning
that we all want and need.

The Daughter was promised a slumber party for her birthday,
coupled with the extra finances from working,
it was time to make it happen.

We took out the attic access in her room,
had the ceiling fixed, and then painted.
We have an extra mattress set
that is excellent for overnight guests.
It's also her favorite place to take a nap!

The Son was at the point he needed his own room also.
The shelves were made by the Chook Man's Brother years ago,
and had already been painted the same Blue as his room.
It's perfect for displaying his Lego sets.
Those clear plastic buckets are just the Peach!
Get an assortment of assorted sized buckets,
2 or 3 rolling drawer units,
and any Kiddo can be neat!
that's Neato!

They have the same IKEA Kura reversible beds,
one as a Loft,
the other as a Canopy.
She's also using her Night Sky{Kura Bed Tent}

Both rooms have the same Closet set up:
sliding doors, shelved closet, sliding doors, full across top.

EVERY single one of them,
was cleaned out, went through, sorted and straightened.
After all the cleaning and such {we did our closet also},
we had almost 3 full truck loads to donate.
Two loads of trash went to the road.
I swear you could feel the closets breathing better..

The kiddos got their own rooms
and everything is bright, shiney, and new...
The whole House feels lighter.

Thanksgiving....or The Chook Man takes a run

Happy Thanksgiving!
We started this crisp, beautiful Holiday heading to downtown for the annual Turkey Trot.
This year, the fantabulous Chook Man, is trotting along.
And we were there cheering as he came across the "I did it" line..
Verra Proud.

Then it was home to cook and conversate with
The Random Pieces of Realitives that we call Family.

Besides the utter and complete failure of
not 1
not 2
not even 3
but 4!
FOUR!!! Lemon Meringue Pies
{hookers, this is a First in over 20 years of making these}
it was quite the Delicious Day.
Peace, Love, and Gravy!

Magnificient Movie Marathon Holiday

 Yes, yes indeed.
What a fine day.
The Mates and Me
have been waiting 3! months for this day...

an all day Movie Marathon.

 The only thing that
could have made this better
would have been to see it in pajamas.

We read Hugo Cabret last summer and fell in LoVe with it.

The book was edgier than the movie,
and there were some comic relief scenes not from the book,
but the visuals were stunning.

If you have any child on your Present List that LoVes to read,
then get this book.
{We also discovered recently Wonderstuck, Brian Selznick's newest book.}.
Then we found out about the movie.
Shazam!

In that continuing wave of movie goodness,
The Muppets announce a new movie.
What?
Oh Yeah!...
We Are Muppets!

and both movies opened on the same day.
So both movies we must see.
The kids were on Cloud 9....

I laughed... a lot.
So did my WombMates.
and The Chook Man.

The biggest complaint I had was
that in trying to fit in so much Muppetness,
many of the scenes were way too short
{think: Animal's drum scene....waaayyy to short}

What a Treat~
two movies in the same day.
and of course, I wore OPI's Meep Meep Meep polish in honor of this day!

Lagniappe: Both movies were a hit!
maniacal laugh; maniacal laugh; maniacal laugh....

Fine fine GLiTTer,that enhances
both the CoLoR and Application.
This polish goes on so verra smoothly
with Fantastic coverage.
The first finger is 1 coat

And that's all you need.

Animal~istic is on my list

Many of the colors
were sold out already
so I didn't get to try them...
but you can bet I'll be keeping my eye out for them!

Deer Revamp for Fall

 Remember that Clark Griswold Big Ass Haul of  Decor
we were given by my mother in law a few years ago?
She had these reindeer that were no longer mechanical but lovely just the same.
Lightbulb.
Revamp them and even use them for different holidays!
So, I did.

Lemon Lemon Loaf from BAKED

O.

M.
G.

This loaf cake is Super~CaLa.
If you, like, love, Lemon like I do, then this recipe is for You.

It's from BAKED, a boOk I was turned on to by a BettieBlogger.
I checked it out from my local library and this is the first recipe I tried.

To some the recipe may look complicated, but it really isn't.
Especially if you're organized.

This is not for the calorie concious,
this is for the TasTe Concious~
oh, heLL Yes.

Here's some tips:

Zest your Lemons first.

Trace the bottom of your pan onto the Parchment PaPer,
cut,
grease pans,
lay PaPer,
grease paper,
set aside.

Yes, that is 4 sticks of BuTTer.

butt~ah.
Mix up dry ingredients and set aside.
Then mix your wet ingredients
in food processor.
Blend, Fold, Fill....

I used my Mandolin Slicer to thinly slice some Lemons
to layer on a couple of Loaves.

I couldn't stop eating the batter...

The makings of Lemon Syrup and Lemon Icing Glaze...
Verra easy.
For the Icing Glaze,
the recipe said 4 to 6 tbls. Lemon Juice
I ended up using 6 and it was a bit much tartiness.
I would go with 4.

These trusty Weapons of Mass Eatery
made the job easy and oh so smooth.

When baking, I set the timer for 30 minutes {second round}
and thought they might need 5 more minutes.

Next time, I will take them out at 30 min.
The extra time made for a crusty crust..
the less time will most likely give me the moister crust.

Let them eat Loaf.

Next up,
I really want to try the White Out Cake.
Maybe for the Weeblette's up~coming birthday.
