Shave Oil

Shave Oil

I started making this for the Huzzleband a few years ago.
He's been hoOked ever since!
It's a very simple recipe,
and less expensive than
buying a store version.

4oz of Sweet Almond Oil
4oz of Apricot Oil
Cedar essential Oil
Orange essential Oil
Pine essential Oil

Simply mix the oils together
and then drop essential oils in.

To find a scent combination that you like,
I would try this method:
Using q~tips,
place 1 drop of oil per end
and then put into a ziplock baggie.
Let it rest.
Then proceed to testing
which scent you like.

You might do 6 drops of cedar {so that would be one drop on each end of three sticks} 3 drops of pine {one drop on three ends using two sticks} and 2 drops of orange {one drop on each end of one stick}

Let the baggie rest anywhere from 10 minutes to whenever you get to it. Open the ziplock and using your hand, waft the scent towards you. You should get a decent idea of the scent combo. From there adjust the amount of you scent you want either by doing the q~tips or adding it to the Base Oil and adjusting there.

WHATEVER YOU DO
WRITE IT DOWN!!!
I cannot emphasize this enough!
I wrote down the original recipe I used when making this the first time. From there I can adjust it however the Huzzleband likes. He may want more Pine this time around so I add a few drops extra at a time til it's what he likes.

This is the easiest customizable product to make. Decide which Base/Carrier Oils will suit what you want. I used Sweet Almond Oil as a good basic base. I chose Apricot Oil since it helps with fine lines and moisturizing. If you were making this shave oil for legs, you may want to do Sweet Almond oil with perhaps Safflower Oil.
Make sure and read if the oil has a scent itself and the description of it. Or better yet, if you can, test it at the store.

Whatever scent you LoVe, you can add.
Rosemary makes an excellent scent, as do Chamomile, Cocoa, and Lemon.

PRECAUTION!
OIL IS VERRA SLIPPERY!
WHETHER USING IN THE SHOWER OR TUB
USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN EXITING!!

So get that little Mixologist Heart a'mixing and mix up some delicious shave oil.
You'll LoVe everything about it!

Fresh Lemon Bath Salts

I LoVe Lemon,
{as if you didn't know that by now!}
Everything about it:
The CoLoR
The Scent
The TasTe

I also am verra fond of Bath products.
Making and Using them.

This go round,
I went the Fresh route.

Things Needed:
*************
*1 Big Lemon, fresh but not cheeky
*Sea Salt
*Really Nice Jar {with firm closing lid/top}
*************

Using my Mandolin Slicer
[at the widest setting]
I cut 1 Lemon into these beautiful, lovely slices...

Place a layer of Sea Salt at the bottom or your Jar.
About 1/2 to 1 inch.
Place a layer of Lemon Slices on top of that.
When placing your layers of Salt on top of the Lemons
make sure the Salt is firmly packed to cover the wedges.

Continue til you reach the top.

Seeing as it is Fresh ingredients,
I would use as soon as possible.

When you add the Salt to your bath,
throw in a couple of the Slices as well;
discard after use.

Wait til you get a scent`full~
Your Happy will tingle.

Love is the air...

 {promo picture. I did not make these}

I have loved making my own
Bath and Beauty stuff since I was in
middle school.

Although I have not made these
well, I have made the Lavender Bath Salts,
these Bath Bombs have got my attention!

Mountain Rose is my No.1
place I go to for most of
my Herbal and Beauty needs.

Even though many are celebrating
Valentine's day this month,
I share these as more of a
Goddess Beauty Ritual,
performed on Friday,
which is ruled by Venus,
Goddess of Love.
What better way to show one's self Love
than to pamper it.

Priscillas Earthly Delights ~ 10

  This time Priscilla is giving back.
{wink}

For our anniversary
The Chook Man totally scored some righteous Man~bath supplies.

Who da Man?
He da Man!

He's interested in Musk, and I've been wanting to buy him Kiehls Musk.
I've consistently heard good things about them.
For the Trip, the treats included the Scent, the Body Cleanser, the Lotion.

Free Samples, too....which is always a Plus!

In our foray to The Mall for My Treats, We a~spied the Kiehls counter right across the aisle.
Having already enjoyed their products, He added to it.
The Shave Cream,  The Close Shavers, and a Facial Fuel.

omg. The layering is just Heavenly.
Makes a Man smell good!

He is thoroughly enjoying them all.
As am I.

My Man, The Chook Man
{Chuck does all my stunts}
...after all,  what Man doesn't LoVe a little show of appreciation?

{I also make Him flex his muscles for Me.}
I know, right?

Last Day of School, Gifts, and Summer Officially starts at 3:47 pm....

wow.
today is a bit overwhelming.
I'm a bit teary today,
and that's something new.

It was great being so involved with my son's classroom and working with his teacher, Mr.L
Starting from last summer
when we painted the mural in his classroom,
to all the projects,
and roommothering...
I find it sad that it is ending.

Mr. L texted me early this morning
and asked me to come by the room,
he had something for me.
We get there and
he hands me this beautiful box from L'occitane1
THRILLS!

Inside were Two Rose soaps,
a Rose Shimmering lotion,
and a regular Lotion.
omg.

I LoVe Rose!
I LoVe anything Beauty related!
and
I LoVe ShiMMer.....

{Priscilla dabs her eyes; its just grand when someone shows they appreciate you by gifting you things that are totally them; it makes the gift doubly~bubbly}

There was also a gift card from all three 3rd grade teachers
for my favorite Coffee Shop,
as a treat for helping with the Leap testing.

I feel so Appreciated!

so we begin our Summer....

Goddess Beauty Ritual

A mini~Spa Holiday!

One of Mine favorite Friday things to do,
is the GoDDess Beauty Ritual.
Friday is ruled by the planet Venus.
Venus is the GoDDess of Beauty and LoVe.
What better day to honor Your Beauty!
and show a little Love to the Self.

I go all out too!
Most of the time, I have Friday's to My Self. My House becomes my spa.

I set about getting everything ready:
*Music! ~ Srsly! it could be anything from Hard Rock to New Age
*Candles
*Incense ~ Rose is a Fantastic incense to burn.
*Book

I bring out the Beauty Basket for any other things I might need,
depending on what I am doing.

The Beauty Ingredients can be anything:

*Green Clay
*Almond or Pomegrante oil
*Sea Salt ~ coarse for Baths; fine for Body Scrub.
*Apple Cider Vinegar ~ great for rinsing hair/scalp;
  removing buildup.
*Rose water ~ besides the subtle scent, it really adds Shine!
*Baking soda ~ great in the fOOt bath.
*Powdered milk ~ pedicure or bath
*Witch hazel ~ I prefer Thayer's Rose. sometimes Lavender.
*CoCoa ~ yes, even CoCoa if I'm in the moOd to make my own
  Chocolate mask.
*Montagne Juenesse beauty products ~ great facial masks and
  pedicure treats
*Chocolate ~Valentine heart boxes are divine for this.
*Nail Supplies
*Lotion like CoCoa Butter or Kokum Butter

One of the best tooLs I have , is The Magic Bullet Blender, that The Turkish Mother gave Me one year for Yulemas. The small cup that comes with it is the bOmb! for mixing up one's own Masks.
makes it smooooth like buTTah.....

My hair dryer! {the one that makes you look like a mushroom}, is wonderful when you want to do a hot~oil/deep conditioning for your Hair. Its like being in your own little pod~pocket of meditative state. I completely embrace that cool solitude~ness.

I fancy keeping as many of my Beauty products in clear glass bottles and jars, as I can. The older the better, when I can find them in good shape. Fill them with Oils and Powders, various sundries.....It's like a piece of art.

Steaming my face has been a Beauty Ritual of mine since middle school.
Usually, I will use plain water; other times I may throw in a handful of Herbs:
Chamomile
Lavender
Rosemary
Lemon

Your mini~Spa Holiday can be
as simple as steaming your face and doing a mask
to an all out, head to toe, I've got a date with The Man tonight, spa session.

Really, the most important thing
is having the time uninterrupted.
PRIVACY.
You'd be surprised at home little time I have
even though I work at home.
SOMEONE is always coming and going.
I can relish the effects of The Man appreciating My best to look good...
I just don't want him to see it!
Takes all the Mystery and Magic out of it.
 {ewww, that's what you do with that???....I know, right?}

Set Your Mood, Mix up some Notions & Potions, ...
Be a Beauty Mixoligist and Indulge your GoDDess.

Priscilla says.........{mmm, sigh}
Aren't we fabulous?

Tangerine Bath Salts

The Man, LOVES! his Tangerines, Satsumas, and Oranges.
I bought these really lovely Tangerines for him from the grocery store,
and
They smelled absoulutely delicious when he was peeling them, so I had a Thought! (yes, yes indeed)
Tangerine Bath Salts.
When I buy Citrus, I really try to save the rinds to dry and use in My Incense recipes
or Bath recipes.

I turned the oven on to 225* to preheat before I began cutting the peel.
I took the Tangerine peel and sliced into about 1/4 inch thin slices and those in smaller pieces if they were
too long.

I tend to like them kind of square and short strips.
Lay them on a cookie sheet and put in over for about, mmm, 20 minutes.
WATCH CAREFULLY!
They can turn and burn quickly.
You can see when they are just right, with a deep golden brown tone to them.
After they cooled I put them in a jar with the Coarse Sea Salt and shook it up.

I like to let my Bath Salts set up about a week, shaking firly to mix it all up, twice a day.

Oh, it smells verra Lovely.
Its like an Orange LoLLiPoP without all the Stickiness!

Chamomile Milk Bath

Chamomile is a very popular Beauty and Health product.
From Teas to Creams, to Soap to Sachets.

A simple way to enjoy Chamomile is to use it in a Milk bath.

Just mix up some dried powdered Milk (whole milk, not non-fat)

with Whole Chamomile Flowers,

put in a pretty container
and Voila!
a piece of heaven right there ready for you to use.

I buy my Whole Chamomile Flowers from Mountain Rose Herbs, and have plans to grow Them next year
in Our garden. Verra Excited about that.

(apologize for crappy pictures, couldn't get the lighting right)
