The Persimmons are here, The Persimmons are here....

 yes indeed.
Favor given.
Favor will be returned.

I was just whining yesterday that I wasn't going to get any
because my dear neighbor has moved.
{rumor has it, they might be moving back! Yeah!}

Oldest Womb Fruit says: What's that?
and viola!
My bag of Persimmons,
hanging on the door.

Now,
the Ripening.

FuLL mOon ~ September ~ Harvest moOn

  Harvest MoOn ~ Neil Young

No other lunar spectacle is as awesome as the Harvest Moon.

 aahhh, The Harvest moOn....
Nature's time clock to finish up the Work
before it's time to settle down for rest.
October moOn is sometimes called the Harvest MooN
but
September's is the real deal!

It's the Full moOn closest to
the Autumn Equinox,
when the Day and Night are most equal.

Called The Harvest MoOn by Native Americans
for that was when They harvested their Corn.
Farmers also work by the light of the full moon, that's how bright it is,
to get these harvests done.
This full moon carries with it the association
of grains and seeds,
and rebirth.

Night time is really the best time to work.
All the ideas are there to be yours because everyone else is asleep.  ~Catherine O'Hara

Harness some of the Corn Moon's fiery energy for your ritual and spell work.
This is a good time to focus on your spiritual and physical health.
Choose things that you want to do away with,
write them on a strip of blank paper,
and burn the paper.

Rub fresh Rosemary between your Hands
and then rub your Hands in your Hair.
umm, LoVeLy!
Rosemary is great for Purification, Mental Powers, & Invigorating Energies.

It's the time to harvest what you can now to put aside for later use.
What sacrifices can you make today that will benefit you further down the road?

Open the doors and windows wide,
Rub fresh  rosemary in your hair
Harness some of that LoVe from your Honey....
and do your own dance by the light of the mOon

    Mabon ~ Autumn Equinox

     Happy Mabon, pEEps!

Time of the Seasons ~ The Zombies
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdghL1NGk0g

I always get excited about Mabon for the things that are ahead.

The subtle signs that a change in season is beginning.

Mabon is a good time to celebrate, and contemplate, and complete.

Nights in White Satin~ The Moody Blues

The Autumn Equinox divides the day and night equally.
It is the drawing to and of family as we prepare
for the winding down of the year at Samhain.
It is a time to finish old business as we
ready for a period of rest, relaxation, and reflection.
This is the Second Harvest, where we prepare for the Wynter months ahead.

Mabon is considered a time of the Mysteries.
It is a time to honor Aging Deities
    and the Spirit World.
    Considered a time of balance,
it is when we stop and relax and
enjoy the fruits of our personal harvests,
whether they be from toiling in our gardens,
working at our jobs, raising our families,
or just coping with the bizzy bizz~ness of everyday life.

Good time to contemplate unfinished projects and such,
and to focus on cleansing them,
either by letting go or finishing them.
Second, or Final Harvest is time to give thanks
for the bounty that will sustain you through the Wynter.

and a Damn Fine! time for caramel apples!!!

I will celebrate by lighting a Yellow candle,
    burning some Lavender,
placing an Apple and seeds on the altar,
    with an offering of thanks.

    Symbols of Mabon:
wine, gourds, pine cones, acorns, grains, corn, apples, pomegranates, vines such as ivy, dried seeds, and horns of plenty.

    Herbs of Maybon:
Acorn, benzoin, ferns, grains, honeysuckle, marigold, milkweed, myrrh, passionflower, rose, sage, solomon's seal, tobacco, thistle, and vegetables.

    Foods of Mabon:
Breads, nuts, apples, pomegranates, and vegetables such as potatoes, carrots, and onions.

    Incense of Mabon:
    Autumn Blend-benzoin, myrrh, and sage.

    Colors of Mabon:
Red, orange, russet, maroon, brown, and gold.

    Stones of Mabon:
Sapphire, lapis lazuli, and yellow agates.

    Activities of Mabon:
Making wine, gathering dried herbs, plants, seeds and seed pods, walking in the woods, scattering offerings in harvested fields, offering libations to trees, adorning burial sites with leaves, acorns, and pine cones to honor those who have passed over.

    Spellworkings of Mabon:
Protection, prosperity, security, and self-confidence. Also those of harmony and balance.

    Deities of Mabon:
Goddesses-Modron, Morgan, Epona, Persephone, Pamona and the Muses. Gods-Mabon, Thoth, Thor, Hermes, and The Green Man.

    Homemade AppLe Sauce

Well, color me Red, and Golden and Sweet.....
    call me Apple.

    Although our weather is still
    in the summer temps! ...Srsly!
The Womb Fruits and I wanted to make Applesauce.
We picked up a bunch of really nice fruit
from the Fruit Stand on Saturday,

and I chose Gala apples for the applesauce.

I've been wanting an excuse to use
    my new pressure cooker
I was given for my birthday last April,
and this is as perfect an excuse.
    Applesauce is so verra easy.

    6 apples ~ Gala {or your choice}
    1/2 cup water
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/8 tsp Cinnamon
    1/8 tsp Cardamon

I peeled, cored, sliced the Apples.
    Put in the pressure cooker
and add the rest of your ingredients.

    Lock the pressure cooker,
    place Knobble on lid,
    and place on high heat.
When the steam sets the Knobble to
    a steady rock and roll,
turn your heat down to medium/low heat.
If the Knobble stops rocking and rolling,
    turn the heat back up.
When the Knobble starts, that's when you
    start your Cook Time.

    FOLLOW YOUR PRESSURE COOKER'S INSTRUCTIONS!!!
    CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION!

After the cook time was done,
I de~pressurized it, by lifting the knobble
with a long utensil and then unlocked the lid.
I let the Applesauce simmer for about
10 minutes to cook off the extra water.

It made about 2 cups of Applesauce,
and it was gone in one sitting!

Next time I will try less sugar,
it did tend to get that syrup ring
around it when it settled in the bowl.
    The taste was Wonderful!!!

Next up, on the cOOking front..
    Candy Apples!

Two SiSters Mary Thoughts for the Day ~ September

     "Leaves fall,
    the days grow cold.
The GoDDess pulls her mantle of Earth around Her
as You, O Great Sun God, sail toward the West
to the land of eternal enchantment,
wrapped in the coolness of Night.
    Fruits ripen,
    Seeds drip,
the hours of Day and Night are balanced."
    ~ Mabon Sabbat and Lore

the blackberries leave evidence of your Kiss.

"Do you remember, the 21st Night of September?
LoVe was changing the minds of pretenders
    While chasing the Clouds away
    Our Hearts were ringing
In the key that our Souls were singing.
As we danced in the Night,
Remember how the Stars stole the Night away."
~ September, Earth, Wind & Fire

    "Indian Summer~
the old cat shares  Her corner of the deck"
    ~ James Chessing

    Thirty days hath September,
    April, June and November;
    Al the rest have thirty~one,
Save February, with twenty~eight days clear,
    And twenty~nine each leap year.

     Under the Harvest moon,
    When the soft silver
    Drips shimmering
    Over the garden Nights,
    Death, the gray mocker,
    Comes and whispers to You
    As a Beautiful Friend
    who remembers.
    ~ Carl Sandberg

    Tangle branches of Shadowy hair
    Wrinkle crisp lines
    In the September air.
     Black robins bobbing,
    Dig out
    From summer coarsen throats
    A solitary song.
    ~Charlotte Ballard, The Maple Dances

The Druids call this celebration, Mea'n Fo'mhair, and honor the Green Man, The god of the Forest, by offering libations to trees. Offerings of ciders, wines, herbs, and fertilizer are appropriate at this time. Mabon is considered a time of the Mysteries.

The last of summer is Delight,
    Deterred by Retrospect.
    "Tis Ecstasy's revealed Review,
    Enchantment's Syndicate.
To meet it ~ nameless as it is~
    Without celestial mail,
    Audacious as without a Knock
    To walk within the Veil.
~The Last of Summer is Delight, Emily Dickinson

    Priscilla's Earthly Delights

Back back a LONG time ago, on one of my many forays into the Library,
I discovered this bOOk and it was LoVe at first sight.

Oh the Houses I could dress with this bOOk.
A few years ago I loaned it to The Oldest Kid with the stern warning:
DO NOT LOAN THIS TO ANY!!!ONE!!!

    So what did he do?
    Loaned it to someone.
    Where did it go?
Have no clue, because she "lost" it....
    sigh.

    No worries.
Thanks to the Age of Tech,
I replaced it with no more than a click of mouse, once or twice.

There's really not much in here that I don't want to do.
These 3 things though, were what kept me
in Home Interior Dreamland of Kelly's Frontier:

    The Blue Sectional
    The Floral Suite
    The Velour Hanging Lamps

    Srsly?
    How CooL are these?
    My front roOm
    would be so hoOker...
    Priscilla says "Hooker, please!"

My Complete Adoration for desks made with saw~horse frames
and a top came from this verra boOk.
The first one I ever made was from
    two wooden horses
    a hollow door
and some grOoviLicious fab fabric my Turkish Aunt gave me.

I stapled the fabric to the door,
ran the wires through the empty door~knob space,
set up in the empty wash pantry
and had my first Adult Studio.

The Oldest Son turned my ear to a place here in our town,
that has the juju~bees on glass...
    beveled.
and it won't cost me a years worth of GLiTTeR to get it.
Therefore, I am thinking that in the process of streamlining
the glass and wooden desk above would be perfect in our office.

The Oldest Son thinks this is the ultimate in Priscilla Beds.
Priscilla thinks this is a hooker bed.
    I said "hooker, please"

Even though I've never actually made any of the furniture in here yet,
The instructions and assemblies of the pieces are pretty simple
and straightforward, which is what makes them Reality Do~able.

    Bathroom Update

     wOOhOO!
Finally, more work on the Bathroom Chronicles~
    The Oldest Son's Friend, John,
came over to get this sucker in motion.
    and boy, did He.

    Within a COUPLE OF HOURS!!!
He had the sheetrock up and

    the Pocket door put in,
    put on the sheetrock tape,
and started the re~prep on the recessed Mirror Cubby.

The Glass Pocket door is another project in itself,
as soon as I finalize the design,
it's going to be Glass Etched!

This Thanksgiving will be 4 years
since I pulled the first tile
from there and ripped it out.
    Inexperience,
an un~ability to find someone to help,
    finances...
all conspired to drag it out.
    Not anymore.

Next week, will be more progress.
The room off to the left needs new sheetrock
for the ceiling, due to removal of the old attic stairs.
apparently, whom ever PUT the thing in the bedroom,
    has never seen the Exorcist!

That bedroom is also getting a pocket door,
and in the process, the old gas furnace will be removed,
    and that wall sheet~rocked.

    roll on, roll on,

we will now have a second full bath
for all those Holiday HoHo get togethers and celebratories
    .....happy camper here!

    This Moments Work

I'm working on two paintings at the moment.
In between the housework and doing many catch ups on the blog {updates soon}.

    One I'm quite excited about.

The Other ~ this is the second attempt at this particular painting,
    and I'm still just, ....floundering.
It is NOT coming together at All.
    Again.
    Ugh.

But I am set on a path to complete it one way or another and get on with it.
It is the only way to move forward.

Gearing up for the Holidays too!
    Supply list is ready.

mmmmmm......nothing like the scent of oil paint to set the mind right!
    It holds so much promise.
