Elvis renews The Vows

Burning LoVe ~ Elvis

Todays the day.
After a very leisurely morning,
We made our reservations at the Wedding Chapel.
To renew our vows, by none other than Elvis.

But first we went shopping.
Did our tourist look~see on the strip,
took some pictures as we headed to the Mall.
Yeah yeah I know, but that's where the prize was.
The prize being a new lipstick for Me
and some more Kiehls for The Chook Man.
We loaded up on a few touristy gifts too.

After lunch we headed back to the room
where I commenced a Goddess Beauty Ritual
and we donned our wedding attire.
I've had this outfit planned for MONTHS!

We grabbed a taxi to our destination for our appointed meeting with the Great One.
And celebrated our Tenth Anniversary.

Afterward, We walked across the street to the Cuban Cigar shop
where The Chook Man celebrated by buying a cigar.
I celebrated by splurging on a pack of Clove Cigarettes from the head shop next door.

For the next hour, every where we went, Congratulations was heralded from high and low...

It was an evening I will never forget.

Priscilla's Earthly Delights ~ 9

 Oh My! the Excitement...

Ok. I have never had new luggage before.
Never.
It was all hand me downs.
So The Chook Man treated the Little Girl in this Grown Up Me,
to a bit of Feminine Charm.

We went shopping!
I found these at Target.
They had both pieces in the set.
The Design and Colors were right up my Visual~sense~pleasing alley.
Very affordable too.

and then, there was the inside!
Luscious.

I'm not usually a fan of the Turquoise Blue,
but this really just complimented the outer design perfectly.
And the Pockets!
I was just looking for stuff to fill them.
I'm pretty sure I heard The Chook Man say something about
weights and limits...
Priscilla and I chose to ignore Him.

Maybe it's silly that at my age, a simple set of suitcases
could make Me so damn Happy.
They made me feel grown up, pulled together, classy..

it really is these simple things in Life that make it worthwhile.

Orange

Orange is a color that smells like it sounds, and looks....
Way before any one else was using it, I had a bright orange wall.
I used my black and white art work, and a kit kat  clock to decorate said orange wall.
Everybody oooh'd and ahhh'd.
It was great.

Orange was Tang when I was a kid
Now, My oranges come chocolate shaped!

Orange muffins are lovely packed for a hike in the woods.
{I was totally smackers for Otis Spunkmeyer's Orange Muffins; can't find them anymore}

Orange is both Yulemas and Summer both.

I want to open an Art GaLLery and call it "TAnGeRiNe".... yep.

This bag takes me back to late elementary/ middle school/ high school when I was forever making bags out of old jeans or fabric place mats!
I think Corduroy is CooL.
Mine would be so full of stuff it was amazing I could find anything

Quirky and Whimsical!
{how many is that on the scrabble board???}
Plus! its got Heart...
I Have An Orange Heart brOOch.

Seriously check out this shop...there are some Whimsi~licious things going on...

Now this is just Divine.

Divine, Darling!

I was raised on tea, and being Turkish Tea,

it was and is a MiNi~Production*of*an~AFternoon~Holiday.
Cheese, bread, olives, sour cherry preserves.
If it was summer, there was VERY fresh fruits and vegetables
Earl Grey from my college and single parent days.
Peace and Love....
These pieces are all that wrapped into one....Be One.
I'm not sure about the price on this, but it is a lovely set.

TANGERINE MARY JANES!!!

{NOT my size}

From tea to hot chocolate, this little orange enamel pot seems like it
would be perfect for a small cup of hot chocolate before bed.

Everything about this is super....
Its the perfect piece to wear for an outside dinner
with The Chuck Man, downtown, at one of our top eateries.

I'm especially fond of that wide band across the top.
I'm especially fond of the fact that it's a Wraparound skirt.
and
I like the print.

These just make Me smile.

These and the scent of Patchouli...
no other clothing necessary!

Orange is just MeLLow.
Some might say "but YeLLow is more meLLow.."
No, Yellow is HaPPy, like, Really Happy...Hope Happy.

Orange is the deep happy you get when passion is taking a nap............

Louisiana / Gulf Coast Oil Spill

The Gulf Coast Oil Spill: How You Can Help

The Deepwater Horizon disaster is expected to eclipse the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill of 1989 as the worst oil related disaster in U.S. history.  The massive oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico threatens the lives of over 400 species of animals, including whale, dolphins, and sea turtles, and an estimated 34,000+ wild birds.  The financial impact on the people of the Gulf Coast is equally distressing, as the disaster is expected to have a serious impact on the fishing, tourism, and petrolatum industries that many people of the Gulf Coast rely on.  To learn more about the impact of this disaster, follow the latest developments on CNN.

NASA's Aqua satellite flew over the oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday, May 4
If you live in the Gulf Coast area, you may be able to help with cleanup operations.  Visit the following web sites to learn how and where you can volunteer to help clean up the Gulf Coast.
Locals in the Gulf Coast can also help by keeping alert for contaminated shorelines and injured wildlife.  Use the following numbers to report sightings:
  • To report oiled wildlife, please call 1-866-557-1401
  • To discuss oil related damage, please call 1-800-440-0858
  • To report oiled shoreline or to  request volunteer information, please call 1-866-448-5816. (This is the BP Community Support Team Hotline, which is being used as a hub by nonprofit organizations to coordinate volunteer inquiries. Leave a message with your contact information and your questions about how to help or information on oiled shoreline.)
Those of us who are physically out of range can still help the cleanup efforts in the Gulf Coast. The following organizations are in need of a variety of items that can be collected and shipped to those who are trying to help.
  • Nylons / Hair Donations of used nylons and pantyhose are being collected through MatterOfTrust.org in an effort to supply the cleanup crews with devices that absorb oil.  Organize a pantyhose drive with your friends and neighbors for an easy way to contribute to cleanup efforts.  Human and animal hairs are also used to create these devices.  Salons, Dog Groomers, and Fiber Farmers can help contribute to cleanup efforts by collecting and donating clippings and fibers for MatterOfTrust.org.  Let your favorite salon, groomer, or fiber farm know about this program, and that you would like to see them participate.
  • Linens, Kennels, Towels, Sheets, Dawn Detergent, Paper Towels, Bottled Water and Gator-Aid The Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary is the nation's largest hospital for wild birds.  The supplies listed here are needed to support their efforts.  Visit their home page for more information.
As always, financial donations are a simple, straightforward way to help.  You can make donations at the following websites:
  • Visit The National Wildlife Federation to donate funds that will be put toward cleanup efforts.  While you are there, learn how you can speak up for clean energy laws, and how you can help to spread the word through social media through Twitter and Facebook.
  • The Greater New Orleans Foundation has set up the Gulf Coast Oil Spill Fund to help with cleanup and environmental protection efforts. The fund also hopes to provide assistance to those affected by this crisis through grants to non-profit organizations.
  • Tri-State Bird Rescue & Research is collecting donations that are to be toward wildlife rehabilitation along the Gulf Coast.

A NOTE FROM ME:

The Little Brother's National Guard Unit was activated a few days ago,
and He is down around the Coast right now.

He said He's never seen anything funnier
than telling a bunch of Coon~asses that they will be "cleaning ducks"
and the GovernmentPeople's Faces when they saw their faces....lol

My contribution is going in the Pantyhose department...
if You can help, please do.
If not, say a Happy Thought and send it Their way.

I love my Louisiana.
I've traveled and lived in other states and countries,
yet
I keep coming back to my Louisiana.
The Coastal Peeps are some of the most wonderful helping pEEps on this Earth.
I spent many a summer, on our houseboat
{that The Dad had built from the barge up}
on the Bayou,
and many days on the Beach, especially over in Biloxi, Mississippi.

You All come too!

Mother's Day Classroom project ~ Herbal Soap balls

  Herbal Soap balls

Project with The LittLe Ones!
By now You probably know,
I LoVe to do projects with The Blu Man's class.
This project has been on the shelves of my brain grooves quite a while.
I remember doing them while in Brownies.
Perfect chance to try them out.
Easy.

Supplies:
*************

Plain Ivory soap
{especially since you don't know which Child may have allergies}
approx. 1 large bar per child.
I used the small bar and it barely made two, Small,
                             soaps, per bar per child.

Fresh and/or Dried Herbs  {I bought Chamomile, and we picked fresh
rosemary and Chocolate Mint from the
                                      school  garden}

Large plastic bowls ~ {one for the chopped soap, and one to mix
                                the chopped soap with the herbs}

Bowl of water
Food processor
Ice cream scoop
Foil or wax paper for work area
Coffee filters {optional}

*************

I used the food processor to chop the soap the night before the project.
If you're doing a group activity, I highly recommend this.

It does two things:
*saves time when you're rushing the next day to make it on time
*lets' you gauge for the right amount

Another good reason to use Ivory is its softness.
I had three bars of a plain DIAL? soap, and it wouldn't chop for nothing!
the soap nice and fluffy after choppage.

The next day.....

I don't know why I never thought of this but we did the project outside.
Duh!
Most of the kids LoVed it.
Some complained about it being to "messy".
When i asked those kids what they like to do, the response was video games.
Nothing wrong with video games unless that's all you do!

This is the fresh Chocolate Mint that I used.
The main picture is made with these. It really was lovely.

Mix your Herbs in with the Chopped Soap and mix it well.
Using the Ice Cream Scooper, scoop a nice full round,
and put it on the work sheet.

Let the kids wet their fingertips
and begin shaping the Mixture.
I used the Coffee Filters for the Kids to place the soap balls on and dry.
They made decorated paper bags with the teacher later.
There you have it.
Happy Mothers Day!
