Citrusy Fresh Laundry Wash

 I've been completely in LoVe with the whole homemade detergent
{HOMEMADE, hoOkers!}
for a few years now.

When I don't have time to make a whole batch of it,
I will just shave off a thin slice using a cheese grater thingy,
and toss that in the wash.
But thanks to a fellow Betty Blogger, I'm going alll the way this time.
 The biggie ~ she added a bar of Dr. Bronner's to her mix.

Talk about Potions and Notions.
What a great idea.

I chose the Citrus, well, because, the cover is Yellow
and I love the scent of Citrus.
Actually, I was thinking, besides the great scent,
the Citrus might even help brighten a little more.
I'm no chemist {I prefer Mixologist, if you please}, just guessing.

Let's get to Mixologing:

Ingredients:
*************
Box of Borax
Box of Baking Soda
Zote soap
Dr. Bronner's Citrus soap
Moderate sized Container
Food Processor with Grater attachment
Cheese grater
Big Bowl
Great Outdoors

Using the Slice side of my Cheese Grater, I grated both bars of soap.
Then put them in the Food Processor to finely grate.

Then add half a box of Baking Soda to the food processor.
Maybe add the whole box later.
{I want to make sure it doesn't leave a film on my clothes first}
Dump this into your big mixing bowl, add box of Borax.
Then run the complete mixture through the food processor
till completely mixed and a fine texture.
I used a small bowl to scoop it out and put in the processor.
Place in container and voila!

You have Citrusy Fresh Laundry Wash

Most recommendations average 2 TBL of Laundry Wash to the washing.
I add a spoonful extra to my towels.

I love this kind of stuff.
My grandma would be proud!

Here's My Bit of Earth's version:

Priscilla's Earthly Delights

It really is the simple things in Life
that can pull it together.

This week is just two simple white
coffee cups picked up at a local store.

and some sweet smelling soap!

I was raised on 5:30 am Coffee Milk by The DaD.
Hence, the relaxing affect that coffee has on Me.

The Chook Man and I LoVe Coffee.

The Chook Man and I met at a Coffee Shop.

With the added bonus and entertaining bit
of Me walking straight into a pole and bonking my nose.

Claims have been made that this is when Cupid, laughing so hard, tumbled,
letting loose his Shot to the Heart
and LoVe came stumbling in...

These are perfect for our afternoon break,
or early Sunday if we are Lucky enough for The Mini Us's to sleep late, and catch a cup ooor, two!, while hanging out and listening to Kasey Kasem's Top 40 from many many Billboards long ago...

(Priscilla says, 1975 was a damn good year}
(as she raises her "Hello, Lover" coffee mug in salute)

The soap is Hugo Soap from Whole Foods.
The great thing about this, is you can cut your own,
allowing you to sample it,
without spending your Whole Paycheck.
I believe this is the WhiteChocolate/Pathchouli?
These soaps lather really well, and have some heavenly scents.

Mother's Day Classroom project ~ Herbal Soap balls

  Herbal Soap balls

Project with The LittLe Ones!
By now You probably know,
I LoVe to do projects with The Blu Man's class.
This project has been on the shelves of my brain grooves quite a while.
I remember doing them while in Brownies.
Perfect chance to try them out.
Easy.

Supplies:
*************

Plain Ivory soap
{especially since you don't know which Child may have allergies}
                             approx. 1 large bar per child.
                             I used the small bar and it barely made two, Small,
                             soaps, per bar per child.

Fresh and/or Dried Herbs  {I bought Chamomile, and we picked fresh
                                      rosemary and Chocolate Mint from the
                                      school  garden}

Large plastic bowls ~ {one for the chopped soap, and one to mix
                                the chopped soap with the herbs}

Bowl of water
Food processor
Ice cream scoop
Foil or wax paper for work area
Coffee filters {optional}

*************

I used the food processor to chop the soap the night before the project.
If you're doing a group activity, I highly recommend this.

It does two things:
*saves time when you're rushing the next day to make it on time
*lets' you gauge for the right amount

Another good reason to use Ivory is its softness.
I had three bars of a plain DIAL? soap, and it wouldn't chop for nothing!
the soap nice and fluffy after choppage.

The next day.....

I don't know why I never thought of this but we did the project outside.
Duh!
Most of the kids LoVed it.
Some complained about it being to "messy".
When i asked those kids what they like to do, the response was video games.
Nothing wrong with video games unless that's all you do!

This is the fresh Chocolate Mint that I used.
The main picture is made with these. It really was lovely.

Mix your Herbs in with the Chopped Soap and mix it well.
Using the Ice Cream Scooper, scoop a nice full round,
and put it on the work sheet.

Let the kids wet their fingertips
and begin shaping the Mixture.
I used the Coffee Filters for the Kids to place the soap balls on and dry.
They made decorated paper bags with the teacher later.
There you have it.
Happy Mothers Day!
