Melissa Rizik is another one of those Artists that I stumbled upon.

Her works are edgy, and in your face!

She has a lot of the same techniques that I favor in other Artists, 

the Sensual, Erotic display, Her control and rendering of the female form...

This painting reminds me of New Orleans 

and it's Saucy Women!

 While working on the SiSter's, mOon, & such posts,

I am usually Lucky, to cyber stumble upon a new Artist,

that really appeals to Me.

I came upon Coplu while working on the SiSter's last post.

 His work  contains all the elements I LoVe in Art:

*Whymsical

*Rich CoLor

*Simplicity with impact

and being Turkish was an added Bonus!

{which I just discovered while cutcopypaste~ing his site}

Let's face it,

you can never have to much Inspiration.

Anything to smidge or nudge you on

is well worth it.

That is what this art does for Me.

I love Tarot Card art.

Many of the decks I own,

I bought just for the Art Work.

Here's my attempt to use The Cards

to continue work on the Human Form.

Since I've been looking back at my art,

I've noticed this same blue/green thing going on,

which is odd, 

because I don't really like that look.

Today, I'm working on breaking out of that. 

This is about the time I started using Metallics in my work.

I still Love working with Metallics.

I could see redoing this on a bigger, tighter composition.

 Rougher, more realistic, less cookie cutter.
cause Practice makes Perfect.

Very cookie cutter;  used transfer paper to copy body outline and would work on shading to define.
These days, I make every attempt at complete free~hand.

But I still had fun...............

This piece was commissioned by the previous piece's owner as well.

It really is fun for me to do custom pieces.

The guidelines help Me to stay the course

without over thinking where I want to go with the painting.

I wasn't all that pleased with the vase,
but She was, and that's what mattered.

I could fill a whole canvas with those flowers.

These kinds of pieces are fantastic for

practice and experience and

are much more interesting than

those grey box and styrofoam still lifes from Art 1001!

commissioned painting

As per the usual, the pic flattens

out the depth in the circles.

The dark brown background really 

gets those circles buzzing.

This was a relaxing, fun painting to do.

Casey's Altar ~ a Painting

 Prior! to Christmas, Hipstercrite asked Her bloggletts what they were giving for Gifts this year. In my confident and overzealous contribution I warbled "I'm doing a painting and I'm three strokes away from finishing it"....meh. Forhead thump.



Now it is done.
I finished it yesterday. 


My friend Casey, big happy Queen that he is, 
is quite dear to Me. 

He is particularly fond of a College Painting I did 
{see below,no, further.....further, there at the bottom}

In order to push my Self to progressing in my Craft, and getting a portfolio together, I came to the conclusion that doing a painting for Him would be perfect. And it was. This is one of those pieces that I really am happy with. Of course, every time I look at it, I see this I could have done, that I should have done, yada yada.

But I knew for certain that it was done; felt it. 

So know, two months after His Birthday, a month after Yulemas, He shall be the owner of this piece that was made especially for Him. We always have these Spiritual conversations, so it wasn't hard to ask Him the symbols of things that were meaningful or spiritual.
From His List, this is what I came up with.


These are details that are my favorites:

Biggest challenge was using all that Green.

My most favorite detail in the painting is the Crow.
Using a really deep Blue instead of Black
rendered a beautiful version of the bird.




I was glad for the challenge 
and pleased that I accomplished it.
