FaLL Fest Photo Stand~In prop

 The theme for FaLL Fest was Fiesta! this year.

The SiSnLaw asked if I could do some kind of decoration 

with a Mariachi Band.

Of course.

It took me two months to come to the 11th hour with it~

The Idea Thought Train went like this:

Plywood and Tempra Paint ~ Yeah! No! 

400 overly excited kids running around;

no need for anyone to get squished.

Giant Piece of Foam Board ~ Yeah! No! 

Couldn't find one big enough.

Taping together multi pieces expensive and crappy looking.

Sheet ~ Yeah! No!

That's gonna use a LOT of Paint.

Fellow Artistic Friends come through with the Right Idea.

Appliance Box Cardboard.

Perfect.

Using a giant piece of Cardboard

I covered the front part with White RoLL PaPer 

{usually found in your school's office or art class}

and Spray Adhesive.

I did have to use two pieces, but the seam was near perfect.

Onward to the drawing,

I used my Projector to quickly sketch out the figures.

Then the Fun part!

Bring on the Rainbow....Tempra Paints, Hello~

Word of Warning:

Cardboard plus PaPer makes for VERY Absorbent canvas..

Test paint before starting actually Board.

I did 2 to 3 layers for each color to get it really Vibrant.

After I finished all the painting and outlining,

I laid the board on the ground, traced around a paper plate,

and cut it out with a Sharp Blade.

CoLoRful Duct Tape was used for the edges and packing tape on the pack.

This also helped create a sturdy binding for the rope to go through and not tear.

Using a Philips Head Screw driver, 

I punched holes across the top and a few down the side,

and wove the rope into it.

I hung it up between two poles with plenty of room behind it.

Hung some ribbon and there ya go.

Raphael?? No, RAFFLE painting...

School Festivals are so exciting.

I remember all the CooL Stuff they had at my elementary school functions.

Fall Fest is really big at the Womb Weebles school 

and I always do my best to participate.

Here is this years Raffle contribution.

{last year was another Fleur de Lis painting,

year before was the GLiTTeRized Bread Dough Fleur de Lis ornaments}

You can't go wrong in Saints Country with a Fleur de Lis.

Using Dark Pinks,
Earth and Mocha Browns,
along with Stone colors,
I painted a small canvas in acrylics.


Surprisingly, Fleur de Lis's can be difficult.
Thank goodness for tracing paper!

Most importantly, The Kiddos see me participating.

Bread dough ornaments ~ GLiTTeRized!

Every year The Blu Man's school has a fall fest.
This year for the raffle donations, each grade had to bring something specific.
We had Sports.
When I think of School Fairs and Fall Festivals, I think homemade crafts and things of that Nature.
I remember with fondness, the huge tissue paper flower that I had bought at my elementary school fair.

I've been in the mood for Bread Dough, so that's what I chose.
You would think a Fleur de Lis cookie cutter in LOUISIANA would be a Brees.....to find.
snort, yeah, think again.
I did find a weird one at Table le Sur, but I had to work it~

I mixed up a batch:
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
1 cup of water

Mix well.
If too dry, add a sprinkle of water
If too wet, add a dash of flour

Roll out.
Cut with cookie cutter.
Work with the Dough until you are happy with the way it looks.
Bake at 225* until dry all the way through. The low heat helps the dough not to puff up too much.
I will turn the oven off and let the Dough Ornaments sit in the oven until completely cool.

I saved the extra to make some more Ornaments with The Wee Ones.
