Shave Oil

I started making this for the Huzzleband a few years ago. 
He's been hoOked ever since!
It's a very simple recipe, 
and less expensive than 
buying a store version.

4oz of Sweet Almond Oil
4oz of Apricot Oil
Cedar essential Oil
Orange essential Oil
Pine essential Oil

Simply mix the oils together 
and then drop essential oils in.

To find a scent combination that you like, 
I would try this method: 
Using q~tips,
place 1 drop of oil per end 
and then put into a ziplock baggie. 
Let it rest. 
Then proceed to testing 
which scent you like.

You might do 6 drops of cedar {so that would be one drop on each end of three sticks} 3 drops of pine {one drop on three ends using two sticks} and 2 drops of orange {one drop on each end of one stick}

Let the baggie rest anywhere from 10 minutes to whenever you get to it. Open the ziplock and using your hand, waft the scent towards you. You should get a decent idea of the scent combo. From there adjust the amount of you scent you want either by doing the q~tips or adding it to the Base Oil and adjusting there.

I cannot emphasize this enough! 
I wrote down the original recipe I used when making this the first time. From there I can adjust it however the Huzzleband likes. He may want more Pine this time around so I add a few drops extra at a time til it's what he likes. 

This is the easiest customizable product to make. Decide which Base/Carrier Oils will suit what you want. I used Sweet Almond Oil as a good basic base. I chose Apricot Oil since it helps with fine lines and moisturizing. If you were making this shave oil for legs, you may want to do Sweet Almond oil with perhaps Safflower Oil.
Make sure and read if the oil has a scent itself and the description of it. Or better yet, if you can, test it at the store.

Whatever scent you LoVe, you can add.
Rosemary makes an excellent scent, as do Chamomile, Cocoa, and Lemon. 

PRECAUTION!
OIL IS VERRA SLIPPERY!
WHETHER USING IN THE SHOWER OR TUB
USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN EXITING!!

This StuFF is just Rockin!

It is messy, so I use it in the shower.

You take a bit in your palm

add a bit of water

mushy mix til it's consistent

and scrub away.

Between the Rhassoul Clay and the Charcoal,

oil doesn't have a chance!

I use it only on my Face,  but it is an all over body scrub.

My skin loves it.

It looks and feels clearer and fresher.

Night time is best for me

as it cleans all the grubbiness from the day.

The Scent doesn't ache my head either.

Lips like SPriNg...

My second favorite time of year for Beauty SuPPLies is Spring

{Wynter is tops!}

On a trip to Sephora last week, 

I picked up these 2 new LipSticks.

You may or may not know, 

how I lament the passing of The 90s Lipstick, 

or 80s for that matter.

The luscious color saturated cream that never seem to go dull.

You could follow my trail by the BrightAss Pink Lipmarks 

that would put a paper trail to shame.

I am forever on the lookout for those elusive lipsticks.

Everything is some kind of "gloss" or version of it. 

Listen, if I wanted GLoSS,

I'd hit the Maybelline Kissing Potion ~ roll on BayBE!

I digress...

The first one is Make Up for Ever in #15. 

It is pure and simple, Violet.

I fell in LoVe with it the second I saw it.

It's a Pearly Violet and is a touch sheer,

 but has enough coverage 

that it is one grOovy Lipstick.

And it stands out too~

in a very Feminine Punk kind of way.

I really slathered it on to catch the

Violet hue.

This is definitely my Spring lip color.

Especially for a hot date with The Chook.

This next one is a Sephora Brand ~
Sephora Rouge in LoVe TesT.



This is fairly close to the Punk Pink
I used to wear in the 80s 
and the Dark Pinks of the 90s. 

When I tested it at the store,
it was a lipstick,
creamy with loads of color.


When I got home, the new one seemed much more sheer,
so I whacked off the tip, and got to the good stuff.
LoVe TesT is a great day lipstick. 

Both lipsticks seemed normal in all the other departments:

*Longevity ~ normal: Same as most other lipsticks

*Moisture ~ normal: Doesn't seem to dry out my lips

China Glaze in LightHouse

 Around here, we would call this Mardi Gras Gold!

either which way, 

this Golden Yellow nail polish 

is the CoConut of the Parade.

It is a sheerish polish 

with a super fine glaze GLiTTer.

2 coats are a lovely day color,

3 coats is a dramatic day or night color, 

deepening to a rich Gold.

 

It really is just 

such a HaPPy CoLoR!

China Glaze in Moonlight

White polish is perfect for January; at least, I think so.

I know many or most would say Summer, but I think,

it's clean and refreshing after so much RaZZLe DaZZLe in the Holidays.

China Glaze in MoOnLight is a really nice, simple polish.

One coat, is like a simple french manicure:
it whitens the white and brightens up flesh tone.

Two coats really makes it stand out, without being over bearing.

Three coats ~ I like that mostly on the Toes. 

From what I understand, it is a jelly polish, 

so that's what makes it work so well in coating and color
{making it a sheer color}.

The ONE nail I'm showing you has two coats of polish {my favorite}.
The other nails smashed into The Chook Man's sweater;
not a pretty sight.

 This is a great polish when you need a nail pick me up,
a nice clean and crisp color, 

especially if you're not in the moOd for flashy or heavy.

Finger Paints Laugh My Art Off nail polish

 I've been feeling Blue this Yulemas...

shades of Blue that is.

                             I've always loved 

looking up at the night sky 

on Christmas EvE, 

and yes,
I still look for Santa.

It's the Magic, right?

This polish is Magical. 

It's a nice break 

from the Reds and Greens 

of the Holidays.

It's my North Pole, at Midnight, clear and crisp...

it's GLiMMeR~licious.

It is a heavily GLiTTeRed polish,

which makes it thick.

A nice clear top coat 
would be beautiful

and luscious.

My nails have 2 coats without top coat.

I could see a White party dress
with this Blue polish for a 
rockin Yulemas celebratory.
C'mon, who hasn't designed a Celebratory
around a lipstick or polish?

Many of the colors 

were sold out already 

so I didn't get to try them...

but you can bet I'll be keeping my eye out for them!

Finger Paint's PurPLe PaLeTTe

 

Like sugar coated plums,

Purple Palette is
a shimmering November night.

It's the perfect purple
to those vivid Autumn CoLoRs ~
Burnt Orange, Rusty Reds, and Deep Browns.

Taking a break
from all the baking and cooking?

Look Hot by adding some
shimmy shimmy coco bop to your night out.

Like most GLiTTeR Polishes, 
it is thick
and can be messy to spread.
The top finger is 1 coat
The next is 3 coats,
and the next is 2 coats.
I wanted a bigger contrast
in the coats, so I put
the darkest in the middle.

I would recommend
adding a top coat

to enhance
the color and the glimmer.

It tends to dry flat.



I think this is my new November color.

Finger Paints Cordur Orange

This is the second color

I bought from the
Finger Paints Fall 2011.

It is a yummy color.

To me, it looks like PumPkin Pie, right before it browns perfectly. 

It's not a bright Orange, but a deeper, Orange.

a pair of rusty corduroys!

of Autumn Leaves.....the Orange ones! 

Don't just pair it with your Brown wardrobe either, or at all;

The CoLor really looks grand with Deep Pink or Magenta clothing.

Cordu Orange is the perfect compliment for your October fashion.

Guggen I'm Lime by Finger Paints

 I'm not normally a Green girl....

In the last few years though, I've been finding my Self
drawn to Bright, Happy Greens.

This is the only Green polish I have bought
{well, besides the Dark Green in the Yulemas set}

and I LOVE IT!

Whether you're an Alien Princess dancing among the Stars,

Or a Goddess Wood Nymph running naked through the woOds,

this is the Green for You.

The coverage is decent, 2 to 3 coats.
I've always gotten a fair run out of Finger Paints Polish.

It also has the most subtle of GLiTTeRRy in it,

just enough to make it ShiMMer.

Brings a schmile to your Toes~

I ♥ Lipstick.
Seriously.

I happened to spot these 
while in a bit of a funk
and they immediately made me feel cheery.
Brightened my day right up!

First, I thought, 
oooh, a new color for Spring, 
gotta find a dress to go with...



Second thought, screw Spring, it's perfect for now.

This lovely shade here is Maybelline's {160} FiFth Ave. Fuchsia.

It Rocks on all kinds of levels.
It's a full cream lipstick so the coverage is great.

The CoLor is Brilliant. 

I've always had a thing for in your face pink...

it puts on this air of innocence and then bam 
punches you in the face with its' boldness. 

 



 

The second lipstick is Covergirl {335} Embrace. 

Darker  purplish color , rocks just the same.

Creamy, decent coverage.

Great night out lipstick.

I've tried many many colors,

but I always come back to the Pinks.

These highly colored, bold pinks and purples

are so Punk to me.

Reminiscent of my teenage 80s days.

{minus the ironed spiked hair which I did not sport, not for lack of trying} 

The perfect beauty to compliment my pink high~tops,

or my black~mayormaynotkickyourass~boots.

Dry Weather Moisturizing

  Now that the weather is cooling off, 

my skin is heading towards parchment.

My hands too. 

It's been super dry around here..cooler, but dry.

This is just a quick review of some 

thirst quenching moisturizing products I like enough to say so.

One of my absolute faves
for the Lips is
Lipscription by Benefit 
which I discovered as I went to link it, 
has been discontinued. 
So now I will be on the hunt for a new lip therapy....sigh.

but these are still here:

Burt's Bees Moisturizing Creme ~ this is my all time best moisturizing creme I have ever found. I still suffer from breakouts, and Burt's Bees does not aggravate it at all. It's very light, absorbs quickly, and for me, does not leave a film or slick. For an oily prone girl, this is a life send. I don't have to forgo the all vital moisturizing and look broom hilda.  I use this as my base, putting it on right after washing, so that it will be set when it's time for the rest of my makeup.

My hands look way! older due to the abuse they have constantly taken over the years. As much as I try to be diligent about the Hands, they tend to slip by the wayside. When I do remember to add the Hands, Burt's gives me a quick relief.  My cuticles look and feel better also.  I need to just put the damn jar on my studio table and every time I pop on some of those gloves, slather up.

KoKum Butter ~ this is a new addition to my Beauty Bling.  It is supposed to be most helpful to damaged older skin {aka ~ I come from a generation of baby oil bake!athon}. It is a solid butter, and requires mild heating for flow~ocity. I scrape a bit out of the jar, and rub it vigorously between my hands to melt it. You could make it easier by going ahead and melting it to liquid form {you will have to add something to it, to keep in liquid form, or it will go back to solid when it cools}.  I have a coffee cup warmer, and a small ramekin type cup that makes it easy to heat and melt each time. 
Yes, I do see a difference.  I try to use it at least 2 ~ 3 times a week; not always successful!
When I do use it, I can see a difference. The Chook Man has noticed also. That's a plus, yall.

Mineral Water ~  water obviously, is in the Top 3! I just get so tired of tap water. To keep my self hydrated and bribe my self to drink more, I will splurge on Mineral Water. I LoVe the Fizz...

 The Shoe has a 4 1/2 inche heel.

It's a nice chunky heel.

The nail polish is this gorgeous Earth tone Smokey Plum....
it really shines the deep purple when the light hits it.

I think it will work really well to add some
coLor to some of the more neutral toned clothing I have.
Seems to wear pretty well, also.
It remind me of the 1940s,
not because it's named Bogie...
it make me think of 
a Woman's nice suit, or a LoVeLy evening gown.

I'm not usually a fan of the dark Blue Eyeshadow,
this one seemed different.
For a $1, it didn't hurt to try it out.

It has GLiTTeR in it,
I'd say, moderate...
{Priscilla approves for Cocktails!}

but it's the underlying soft violet, Periwinkle~ish,
that really comes out,
creating this Dusky evening feeling.
and the GLiTTeR enhances that.

I would definitely wear a Black EyEliner 
with this for Night.
I would definitely play around with this
and a BabyBlue Eyeliner for day...

There's a whole lot of Smokey and Sultry 

mixed up in the blues and purples.

...which makes for some smokey sultry nights!
