FuLL mOOn ~ April ~ Pink moOn

 Along the River's Borders

{Cheshire cat smile} Pink Moon.

Full Pink Moon – April This name came from the herb moss pink, or wild ground phlox, which is one of the earliest widespread flowers of the spring. Other names for this month’s celestial body include the Full Sprouting Grass Moon, the Egg Moon, and among coastal tribes the Full Fish Moon, because this was the time that the shad swam upstream to spawn.

I have a special affinity for April, for it is the month I was born.
Pink is the color of Coy paSSion or chEEky munkies,...
not sure which, hmmmm.

Pink is the color of aLL my favorite Lipsticks
{accompanied by Black EyEliner, of course}
So grab your Hunny Bunny, nestle among the Wildflowers, and leave frosty pink kisses upon his cheek...I'm sure he'll return the favor.

"Black butterflies
making LoVe ~
April mOOn."

Sirius satellite raDio ~

A few Yulemas'es ago, The Man bought Me a Sirius satellite radio.
I have to say honestly that I was a little miffed because
I had specifically told Him, do not get Me that for Yulemas.
He did.
{I had my EyE on something else; now I can't even remember what it was!}

Boy did I ever put my foot in mouth on that one...
eVen Priscilla was wondering how I was going to have it removed.
This has turned out to be one of the best, top three for sure,
He has ever given me.

I was hooked on the 80s for the longest,
and then the 90s,
all the while interspersed with 70s music.

I was Time~Traveling faster than Mcfly on the Starship Enterprise.

You can listen to forensic shows,
comedy routines,
unknown bands,
country ~ real or that other stuff,
what ever you want pretty much.
even Martha F'n Stewart
{she's got a pretty good sense of humor}

You can bring the radio inside and play it through your stereo.
You can listen online {although they did start charging extra for internet use/play which totally ticked me off}
and it really was much better before they merged with XM.
You can create Your own package of hand picked stations.

Then,
there's the All Elvis,
aLL Day.

What can I say? I'm a fan....

Sirius radios vary in price depending on what features you want.
Sirius subscriptions run about $13 a month {as I said, not including the internet...bahss~terds!}

Priscilla's Earthly Delights ~ 8

This has been an especially Grand! Earthly Delights day......
Made especially so, that for Once!
the patience i so sturdily and grumpily put forth , paid off.

Margit Brandt pattern, Butterick 6462

When I first started buying Vintage Patterns, I came across this one by Margit Brandt.
The Coat was exactly what I had been looking for.
I put it in my favorites, not yet decided on it, and of course, someone bought it.
Aaand I couldn't find another one.

Until now.
about a year later.
I was doing my pattern search and it popped up.
I snagged it!
Signed, Sealed, Delivered!

Kenzo pattern, Butterick 4259

Priscilla says, this has Sunday Cocktails written allll over it.
I have to agree.
It has that 80s feel with the 1930s/40s touch.
For Me, anyway.
The first outfit on the left reminds me of Senior Year.
It was one of my favorites.

The second outfit is totally
Sunday Cocktails with the Girls.
Bloody Marys,  good music, great food.....Relaxation.
Even Priscilla needs a day without the makeup.
{Doesn't mean you can't still look good.}

Strange Invisible perfume

One of the Blogger Betties that I follow, {London MakeUp Girl}
posted about the perfume brand Strange Invisible.
The scent was Magazine Street, inspired by New Orleans, which had my Heart right there;
but then one thing She really liked about this was it was good to her perfume~sensitivity; also a really big problem for Me.
Luckily, they have trial sizes, for a few dollars.
I ordered two, one for Me, and one for The Man.
I really do like Magazine Street.
It's a nice break from The~everyday~scent.
It is expensive for the regular sizes,  perfect for Yulemas, or Anniversary, or Birthday.

I have fun playing around with Fused Glass in my Studio.
  I found these glass molds at Delphi Glass.
You probably know by now, that I have a thing for Hearts, and for Bears too....and most of My Friends and People I Know are fanatics about Their Saints.
So, why not.....I'll get some black and gold glass
and make em some paperweights or something.

Be warned though!  The description says "Kiln wash before use".
What it doesn't say is that You are supposed to use the Primo Primer Kiln Wash.
I broke my Heart mold the first time I used it, using regular kiln wash.
When I called to see about a replacement the Customer Service Lady told Me,
I needed the Primo Primer.

Yes, yes, it has been quite a Delightful Day..

Two SiSters Mary Thoughts for the Day ~ April

"And Spring arose on the garden fair
Like the Spirit of LoVe felt everywhere;
And each flower and herb on Earth's dark breast
rose from the dreams of its wintry rest."
~ Percy Bysshe Shelley, The Sensitive Plant

"It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want ~oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your Heart ache, you want it so!"
~ Mark Twain

"April hath put a spirit of youth in everything."
~ Shakespeare

"Flora is the Roman Goddess of flowering plants, especially those that bear fruit.
Spring, of course, Is Her season, and She has elements of a LoVe GoDDess,
With its attentdant attributes of Fertility, Sex, and BLoSSoMing. She is quite ancient; the Sabines are said to have named a month for Her {which corresponds to ours and the Romans}
~ April

"Just sitting quietly, doing nothing, Spring comes,
 and the grass grows by itself."
 ~ Zenrin poem

"I stuck My head out the window this morning
 and Spring kissed Me bang in the face."
 ~ Langston Hughes

"I want to do to you what Spring does with Cherry trees."

R.I.P ~ Peter Steele

 LoVe You to Death ~ Type O Negative

Most of you probably know, cause, you know, I told ya
that I'm a HUGE fan of Type O Negative.

How sad that Peter Steele is gone.
It makes me ache for those times gone by.

October Rust was such a big influence in My MeMories,
always in the background, playing.

The kind of gatherings & parties that make any day a Holiday.

Friends gathered,
Clove cigarettes,
Thumbprint cookies ~Homemade!,
Magical times,
New beginnings.
Happy Times.

{sigh}

Rest in Peace, Peter Steele.

Birthday Treats

yes, on this great day back in the great year of 1967,
Little KeLLy Ann came into this world,
a bit after Midnight and eager to start the Adventure.

And what an Adventure.
Here we are 43 years later, and I see how I've grown
passing things on to My Children...Tradition.

My oh so CooL Family gave me these two really beautiful plants.
Our local grocer had them, and I fell for those colors.

Loropetalum {pink}
and
Kerria Japonica {yellow}

I've planted them by the front door in front of my studio window.

The Turkish Mother totally surprised Me
by gifting me a new juicer { for all those Lemon Meringue Pies}
I cleaned up and donated my old juicer to Goodwill.
and much to my LoVeLy Delight: my very own pressure cooker.
I'm forever stealing hers to make applesauce, and then forgetting to bring it back. oops....problem solved.

come on autumn!

Those big ass eclairs I asked for, and I was gracious enough to share.
They are from my favorite bakery.

It was a great day....again! "}

Priscilla's Earthly Delights ~ 7

 Priscilla is Quite excited over one of this weeks Treasure finds!
Oh My.

This time around I picked up two patterns that were on My Favorites list
and one "ooohhh, I really like that!" pattern.

McCalls 3911 and McCalls 4304 had been parked on the Favorites for a bit.

Long Skirts are hunky dory in My boOK.
One good pair of jeans, One great long skirt
and Your wardrobe is halfway complete
{ok, well, maybe stretching it with that one, but its close!}

The Wrap Shirt is just cracker jack, too.

I liked the 30s/40s feel this pattern had, especially the first outfit.
I'm really keen on that Print, too.

                                       McCalls 6053
 I'm pretty sure I bought this one because I was suckered in with the art work.
{ooohhh, I really like that!}
It was the Blue outfit.
I'm thinking, Heavenly for the Beach.

From one of my favorite Etsy shops,
these BaBe~licious earrings are so CooL.
If I was a flavor I would be Raspberry
These earrings just scream Raspberry.
Plus, that's the name of them...Sweet Raspberries.

and so We come to Priscilla's Excitement.
These Brown Bag Cookie Molds, especially the Bird.
Priscilla pulled out the big guns {bedazzled and all} and had to be SniPPy to acquire this one.
Upon finding a Holiday Project using this particular Bird mold,
and deciding it would be oh~so perfect for next Yulemas, its was a done deal.
After weeks of Googling and Ebaying and Etsying...it poPPed up unexpectedly.
Priscilla went 'Mando;

The Sheep was just too damn Cute to pass up.
I am fond of leaving Sheep coOkies for The Santa Man on Yulemas EvE
{and it was a really great deal on ebay}

Lagniappe:
I have really long hair, and like the occasional pin up.
I think the Vintage Hair styles are great, most especially those roLLups.
On a recent trip to Sally's I grabbed this up to play around with.
I had a fancy one {properly called a SnOOd}  that I wore for My Brother's wedding oh so many years ago, and I loved it.
I guess the word for the day is "Practice"...and lots of bobby pins.

Yellow

you are my sunshine, my only sunshine, ....
yep, daddy sang this to me.
yep, I'm a Daddy's girl.

Then there was the Yellow RiBBon around the old oak tree.

Now its a grown up Yellow......

Yellow ~ Coldplay

 Look at the stars
Look how they shine for You....

How enchanted, to hang a hundred of these little stars
from the ceiling above My bed.

Yellow has always been my favorite color,
April {besides being the month I was born into} is just plain and simple,
a Yellow month.
Flowers, Ice cream, a new dress.........anything.
Yellow.
Maybe even one day, a yellow Rothko!

These adorable wOOden Pendants
would look great as earrings
{they are about 2 inches}
Especially with this white sundress I have.

Speaking of clothes, this sweater is just Delish.
Feminine, Bright, Versatile.
With jeans or even over the Sundress.
I would rinse My Hair in Rose water to add scent!

Naturally, there must be Jewelry!
I'm not sure I like this pendant as is,
but remove either one of the Stones
and its really pleasing.
The Wings are a great detail.

This is just cute! Bright & Shiny!!

I honestly do not know what this tape is for,
I believe it might be for wall decoration.
{Priscilla says it would look Sugar Bear in Her kitchen}

THIS is the Darling of our down~the~Yellow~brick~road tripp,
Bags are one of My Quirks.
Along with Journals, Colored Pens, and Black Cats.
Though it is various Shades of Yellow
its Harmonious.
and besides, I like it.

I'm a sucker for Bookbags and Their Secrets!

My Family in VinTagE..

I was inspired by a fantastic Blogger~Bettie
who goes by the name of
 The Vintage Traveler
or

Fuzzy Lizzie

to finally load some of my Vintage Photos.
{she has some great vintage patterns also}
She shares a fondness for old photos as I do;
and their history is important to Her as they are to me.
I chose, simply, My Family.

The above photo is of a 3 month old Daddy's GirL, being held by said Daddy. I miss him terribly.
It was the great year of, yep, 1967! and a young 27 year old Turkish lady is living in Louisiana.

That little guy over there is my Little Brother. For 6 weeks We
are actually Twins.... I believe that is my 2nd birthday. I still have that Lady Bug dress, and had pictures of Baby Girl in it, on her
2nd birthday.

The Mother's Side:

My Mother's Father was a Doctor, University Professor, knew 5 or 7 languages fluently, and was very wise from what I was told. Teaching at University, he would catch students with cheat~scrolls, quietly take them, and resume his way.
That's him in the middle, during surgery.
He was also a big supporter of Ataturk; my mother telling me stories of how he would give gold to support Ataturk and his vision of a modern Turkey.

This is My Mother's Mother. Unfortunately, she died when my mother was
only 10.  I really love looking at the photos of her and my grandfather. She came to Me in a Meditation one night several years ago. She gave Me a message for My Mother. When I told My Mother, She choked up; for apparently, it truly was a message My Mother needed to hear.

 This is My Mother, as a young woman growing up in Istanbul. She's got a talent for Fashion, and damn, She can sew! I truly believe that She could have been big in fashion. I totally adore those glasses. Her friends and she would do silly things like walk around the city, looking up, just to make everybody else look up.

 {she has two older sisters but I have to dig up those photos}

 The Father's Side:

This is My Father's Father....Sr. He was quite the character from what I've been told.
Actually fired Jerry Lee Lewis before Lewis became big and worked briefly
for my dad and him.

This is My Father's Mother.
Known to me as Maw Maw.
Many of the recipes I have are from her.
Most especially, the infamous
Chicken and Dumplings.
She always had one of those plastic folded rain bonnets in her purse.
She loved Butterscotch candies and Lemondrops {the real kind, hard candy rolled in sugar}
I was her favorite, I mean TOP favorite out of 9 grand-kids......She told me, and she didn't lie!

This is....The Dad. My love of v~neck white t-shirts comes from him.  He was quite the adventurous one. Many many stories
from his life. He once missed a plane on purpose for a WoMaN,
said plane crashed and there were no survivors.  As a kid, he tried to move a bee hive at night, cause someone told him, they wouldn't sting him then. They did. He did like to  look quite Spiffy when He dressed up. We named Baby Girl after him, Ray. I tell my family
that if he was still here, we'd call him Big Ray and her Ray~Ray.

The Fathers Sister

My aunt was beautiful when she was young. Its unfortunate that
we were never close, alas too much personality differences. We looked a lot alike at this age. She married into the Wilson clan {as in wilson jewelers}, and her and uncle george started with their own little store in their own little town, until the two boy cousins grew up and they opened a chain of stores called Wilbro.
Well, I am definitely digging the swim suit!

And so you have The Family in Vintage.
More to come.

April Fool's Day

ToTally LoVe this movie.
So cool, Psych based one of their episodes on it.

and of course, its stars Deborah Foreman,
fantastical actress from Valley Girl and My Chauffeur.
What better way to celebrate the day!
besides switching the sugar and the salt,
lemon juice in the creamer,
gag knife through the head...

you get the picture.
