Pre Holiday Room Remodel

Small remodel jobs can be great
right before the holidays.
Especially if you do it Thanksgiving
to get ready for Yulemas.
This is the Holiday Deep Cleaning
that we all want and need.

The Daughter was promised a slumber party for her birthday,
coupled with the extra finances from working,
it was time to make it happen.

We took out the attic access in her room,
had the ceiling fixed, and then painted.
We have an extra mattress set
that is excellent for overnight guests.
It's also her favorite place to take a nap!

The Son was at the point he needed his own room also.
The shelves were made by the Chook Man's Brother years ago,
and had already been painted the same Blue as his room.
It's perfect for displaying his Lego sets.
Those clear plastic buckets are just the Peach!
Get an assortment of assorted sized buckets,
2 or 3 rolling drawer units,
and any Kiddo can be neat!
that's Neato!

They have the same IKEA Kura reversible beds,
one as a Loft,
the other as a Canopy.
She's also using her Night Sky{Kura Bed Tent}

Both rooms have the same Closet set up:
sliding doors, shelved closet, sliding doors, full across top.

EVERY single one of them,
was cleaned out, went through, sorted and straightened.
After all the cleaning and such {we did our closet also},
we had almost 3 full truck loads to donate.
Two loads of trash went to the road.
I swear you could feel the closets breathing better..

The kiddos got their own rooms
and everything is bright, shiney, and new...
The whole House feels lighter.

Bathroom Update

 wOOhOO!
Finally, more work on the Bathroom Chronicles~
The Oldest Son's Friend, John,
came over to get this sucker in motion.
and boy, did He.

Within a COUPLE OF HOURS!!!
He had the sheetrock up and

the Pocket door put in,
put on the sheetrock tape,
and started the re~prep on the recessed Mirror Cubby.

The Glass Pocket door is another project in itself,
as soon as I finalize the design,
it's going to be Glass Etched!

This Thanksgiving will be 4 years
since I pulled the first tile
from there and ripped it out.
Inexperience,
an un~ability to find someone to help,
finances...
all conspired to drag it out.
Not anymore.

Next week, will be more progress.
The room off to the left needs new sheetrock
for the ceiling, due to removal of the old attic stairs.
apparently, whom ever PUT the thing in the bedroom,
has never seen the Exorcist!

That bedroom is also getting a pocket door,
and in the process, the old gas furnace will be removed,
and that wall sheet~rocked.

roll on, roll on,

we will now have a second full bath
for all those Holiday HoHo get togethers and celebratories
.....happy camper here!

Bathroom Remodel ~ Mini Phase IV

the rest of the wall, the niche, and the floor...

After The Brother put in the pocket door frame,
The Tile Guy came and finished the sheet rock and tile for that wall.

and then He did the floor.

He put the niche in, and tiled it. If I had any complaints it would be this. The inside is more slanted than I think it should be, but I will wait and see if its do~able, or a re~do~able.

this is where the small mirror and soap dish will set

The dOOr has arrived!
I will be glaSS etching this one.
I'll be looking at Turkish Tile and tExtile designs
to simplify and use.

next up:
To hang the Lights and hOOk~up the Sink and the Toilet.

Things are looking good!

Bathroom Remodel ~ Mini Phase III

The next phase was to get The Brother Who Is Younger, to come and install my POCKET DOOR frame.
{the door will be in next week}

This entails shoring up the ceiling so the beam won't sag
and my roof doesn't end up being a sky~light.

and since Our House is about 2.13 inches crOOked in EVERY direction,
there were all kinds of 1/8ths, and 7/5ths, and .333 of an inch, to consider, and well, I suck at math.
Basically we are about 1/2 off from being an Alice in Wonderland house...I digress.

Over the course of two nights, at about 2 hours each, he had success!
Next step is to get The Tile Guy to do the inside wall.

Bathroom Remodel ~ Mini Phase II

 The Tile!
{and I srsly thought I could do this...

'its soooo easy" they all said}

The Guy we hired was really fast,
and he liked to put on his headphones to zone out.
I like that.

 Over the next few days,
he steadily worked
and progress was made.

its' beginning to look like a bathroom...

Bathroom Remodel ~ Mini Phase 1

  Oh, the joys of remodeling.

Going on 3 1/2 years, when I first ripped out the bathroom,
we are finally on the way to getting it done!

The walls are completely stripped
and the floor has been filled, patched, and leveled.

The Sheetrock has been hung, sealed and floated.

Happy Happy. Joy Joy.
