Peach Cobbler.....it's peachy!

I love Peaches.
I love Peach Cobbler even more.

I picked up these beauties with
the intention of making a pie,
but found this recipe instead.

PeaCh CoBBLer recipe

Seeing as I had 4 Peaches,
I doubled the recipe.
I did make some changes though,
especially with the Sugar.

  • 4 large peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • plus 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 2cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups milk

  • I started making the recipe
and when I realized that doubling
made it 3 cups of Sugar,
my teeth kind of screeched to a halt!
So I put the 1 1/2 cups with
    the fresh Peach slices,
    and used the 1/4 cup
    in the flour mixture.

    I also added Cinnamon,
    cause I LOVE Cinnamon.

    I  added Freshly ground Nutmeg.
After using it in Oatmeal cookies,
I'll never go back to bottled Nutmeg.
    Yum.

    Use a 9 x 11 dish.

I followed the directions as followed
for the rest of the recipe.

This is one of the best Cobblers,
I have ever tasted, even though,
I overcooked it about 5 minutes
    (next time I'll keep it between 40 and 45 minutes}

    The cobbler bread is fantastic.
It's in between a Biscuit and Cake,
    the perfect compliment to
    firm fresh Peaches.

    Next time,
I think I might cut back
on the Sugar a bit more,
and possibly the Butter, by 1/2 (4 tbls).
    I would also recommend
when baking to put on a cookie sheet.

So, if you have some fresh Peaches,
or any other fruit for that matter,
I highly recommend trying this recipe.

    It's peachy keen!

    a new Desk

One of our local resale shops
had this desk for a while.
I've had my eye on it for a while.

    Then, I bought it.
The Store Lady gave me a great deal on it,
    with minor wear and tear.

It's exactly what I've been looking for.
    Something just right
    for a streamlined computer,
    minimal.

    The drawer comes out
so that you can flip flop it.
Eventually I will resand it and reseal it.

Eventually I will hide all those wires too!

    It's a start.

Cheap and Easy Security for your house....

Now that schools are opening everywhere,
and CoLLeges are back in session,
making sure the Kiddos are ok is very important.

    Many will move into their own place;
    many will come home to empty houses;
ALL of them need to be Safe.

When I was a single parent,
I was terrified of middle of the night break ins.
I don't think I ever got a good nights sleep.
well, occasionally when peeps would crash at my place.
or the womb fruit would have a sleepover.
Anyhoo, besides always living in an upstairs apartment,
I would improvise for alarms and security systems
    on my dOOrs and WindoWs.
    You want anything
that makes a lot of noise
    with little movement,
such as a cheap wind chime.
Like the ones you get at Walgreens.

Wine glasses are excellent for windows,
especially the older wooden ones that have deep ledges.
I would set mine on the ledge so that if the window
opened, it would tip the glass over to fall on the floor.

Craft stores are FULL of noisy, tinkling BeLLs,
especially now with the HoHoHolidays gearing up.

Load up a string with tiny BeLLs

I had these strung across my sliding door
    for my balcony patio.

Or just put a few of these bad boys on for noise!

I also find that the BeLL StriNgs
    are the best for doOrs.

The wind chimes are especially helpful
on doOrs that you may not use that often.
Even now, married to a Copper,  I use this system.
Cause dog shift can make for a reallly long Night!

You just want something that will make enough noise
to give you a heads up, and a head start!

Just make sure that you rig it to be easily
    removed if necessary.
I would use a small eye hooks,
which makes for ease when removing
    and putting back,
    cause,
    all it will take is
    ONE dinner party
    or Kid Take!over,
for it to get annoying pretty quick!

These always brought me a little Peace of Mind
    {still do}
and hopefully it will for you too.

    Tools I'd Like to have....

I actually know  a couple of pEEps who own one.
    Nothing but RaVe reviews.

As someone who has constantly had to
fight to have nice skin, I am eager to give it a whirl.
I LoVe the whole home spa thing,
and this would be a delightful addition to it.

This is going on my Day of Birth gift list.

    CRaFts from Around the CoRner

    Living in Mardi Gras country,
there is a never ending supply of
    CoLoRFuL plastic Beads.

With the HoHoHolidays around the corner,
these are perfect gifts, especially for the Womb Fruits
    to make and give.

    Adding handmade Soaps,
    or
    small box of Incense
    and some Tea Light candles
will make it even more special.

    Even a key bowl
to set by the front door.
